I have this in my bedroom!
I also have this in postcard size too.
I'll say again: the mansion antiques were just too conservative for my taste. In real life, that might be acceptable, even preferable. But on-screen, a certain garishness is a necessity, otherwise it just doesn't read.
And, yes, Alexis' second apartment (or "suite" as Paulsen knew to call it, as "apartment" is so gauche), should of course look like this:
Maybe Alexis should have had a grand portrait of herself in a fancy evening gown, like how Scarlett O'Hara had:
That way, whenever Alexis wasn't in the room, the portrait would become not only the focal point of the camera, but also the characters, as they'd invariably discuss her. Imagine the scene of Adam and Amanda in the penthouse, where they start talking about Mummy, with her portrait looming over them...
I'd like something like that for her Carlton living room.
That would have been AWESOME, not to mention fitting. HAH! Imagine that one scene where Sable is snooping about Alexis' suite, with Alexis' portrait looking like its watching her every move...
That's funny because in the bible of season 7 Laurence Heath wrote a storyline where Alexis (while she was in the mansion) asked a painter to make a portrait of her. She hated the first version so she seduced the painter in order to make him change his work. And of course he did !
Alexis seducing a painter?! Hmmm... i dunno.
Was it every explained who vandalized her suite with grafitti?
Errr...couldn't she just pay him (more) money?
No because he was an "artist" you know!
I forgot to say that once Alexis had the painting as she wanted, she threw away the painter who felt in love with her.
This storyline was clearly filler so it was right to no keep it but it would have GREAT to have a painting of Alexis in the staircase (like the portrait of Sable in the Colbys' staircase).
My theory is she had a photograph of Krystle tacked to a dartboard. When Alexis would return to her apartment after another flogging by Krystle she would poor herself some burnt champagne, open a pack of Osetrova Caviar and a dry biscuit and throw darts at Krystle. But it's just a theory.
As I remember, Esther talked about casting of the mother of Alexis toward the end of season 6, in some article about saving Dynasty after retooling.
Yet this existed....
And it's listed on the Museum of Television's site as Alexis portrait Carrington Penthouse. I think it was commissioned for the show but not used. That dress is a version of the red one we talked about in another thread. There was the red one and a white one, I think this is meant to be an artist's version of what was really a white dress. Anyway it really would have suited the Carlton suite.
That would have been a whole lot more interesting that what we got for season 7! Maybe the portrait I just posted was to be used for that storyline.
eeeermmm….. I really hate to side with the producers, but...
I'm kinda convinced now that the same artist painted the Alexis portrait as painted The Colbys portraits. I should have asked Paul Huson that when I did that interview.
I mean it's no worse than the Fallon repaint.
You mean Olga Lehmann, Paul's Huson mother ? That's possible.
Olga's THE COLBYS portraits were better. That one of Alexis looks too --- flawed.
