Wow, you did some great CD purchases @Mel O'Drama, I don't know if you already know this album from Celine Dion, but it's one of my favorite French-language albums from Celine Dion, it contains some great songs on it. The Elvis Presley Christmas album is amazing too.
Come and Get It: The Best of Apple Records
This is effectively an ersatz Beatles album inasmuch as many of the tracks are written, produced and/or played on by John, Paul or George for one or other of their respective protégés such as Mary Hopkin, James Taylor and Badfinger.
It's new to me, PC, but I really like what I've heard so far. I've been so enjoying Tina Arena's French-language albums I thought why not give Céline a go.
It was a risky buy for me. I love Elvis's original Christmas albums and I've played them a lot every Christmas since childhood.
I bought If I Can Dream - the first album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra accompanying Elvis songs - a few years ago, but I've barely listened to it. I just ended up going to the original songs instead. I listened to some of the Christmas songs with the RPO on YouTube before taking the plunge with this one, and thought it sounded great. Some of the tracks may even sound better than the originals! I gave it a spin while wrapping Christmas presents earlier this week and... I really like it!
Glad to hear you like the album so far @Mel O'Drama, I love all the songs on the album but there are some songs that i love to put on the repeat button , to be honest I love all of Celine Dion's French album.
I haven't listen to any French songs or albums from Tina Arena, i will listen to a few of her albums on Spotify one day, i always loved her song "Change"
I love the original Christmas albums from Elvis too, but the "If I Can Dream - Royal Philharmonic Orchestra" really blows my mind away, i love the new fresh sound to the songs, that's why i also had to buy the "Christmas album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, it's very good you will love it.
I just bought the new cd "Tweesprong" from the Belgium pop group "Clouseau"
I assumed they had disbanded a long time ago.
Your right on that one @Willie Oleson, it should have being a pop duo instead of a pop group, it's more like the Belgium version of Nick & Simon.
I need to get some more of her French albums sometime.
All three of her French-language albums are great. Un Autre Univers is possibly my favourite Tina album (in any language).
A few of my favourite Gallic Tina songs (one from each album):
So far I'm loving it! I'll be listening to it a lot next month.
You really should check out her album from 1991 "Dion chante Plamondon" (Canadion version) / "Des mots qui sonnent" (US/Europe version) or her best selling French album from 1995 "D'eux"., I bet you really would love those two albums.
I really like the last two songs, i wanne hear some more songs from her on Spotify.
I just moved to my new appartment about a month ago so i really need to find this cd before Christmas begins, I really love to listen to this cd.
I just orderd these two cd-boxsets from Rod Stewart, i always wanted these sets but where always sold-out very fast.
Rod Stewart - 5 Classics Albums (1969-1974)
Rod Stewart - The Studio Albums (1975-2001)
Today I went to the records and CD fair again, luckily I still managed to find some nice vinyl records.
Finally i found the two Christmas albums on vinyl that was so hard to find a good vinyl mint condition copy, and of course the Singles 1969-1973 collection.
Actually I only bought four new singles because I already had Yesterday Once more on single, but now I finally have one with the original single cover
And i also found some Anne Murray records, i already had the album "Where Are You Going To My Love, but it had the unofficial album cover, so finally I found a good original copy. And of course another great Christmas album from Anne Murray, of the great single from "You Needed Me".
Your vinyl collection is really coming along, PC. These look in beautiful condition. What great finds.
Thanks @Mel O'Drama, yes my vinyl album collection is really coming along, still a few albums to find , but somehow i will find them someday.
They look very in beautiful condition indeed, so proud to have them now.
I finally found a great compilation album from The Three Degrees with all their greatest hits and other great songs from the period between 1973-1979.
The Three Degrees - When Will I See You Again: The Best Of (2- disc)
Kylie Minogue - Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection (2-disc)
Today i recieved my big cd-boxset from Johnny Mathis "The Voice of Romance", it contains all his 68 studio albums from Colombia records.
Holy cow, PC. 68 albums!!!? That's a whole lot of Mathis.
I do like Johnny's voice. And this collection looks Wonderful! Wonderful!
Thanks @Mel O'Drama i'm very happy with this collection, and yes that are indeed a whole lot of albus from Johnny Mathis, now i wanne listen to them year by year.
I also like his voice very much, his voice is so rich and powerful, i can't wait to hear all his songs, this is going to take me for weeks or months before i heard everything.
I'd be doing exactly the same in your position.
Yes, it'll take a long time, but I'm sure it will be an interesting project for you. And it will probably cover a few different genres.
Me too, I love an artist who has tried out different styles of music over the years, and sometimes I hear something surprisingly beautiful new things that I have never heard before, so I can't really wait to get through Johnny Mathis music discography as quickly as possible to discover all his amazing songs.
Yes it will be indeed @Mel O'Drama, i know for sure i lwould ike his late 60's, 70;s and early 80's music already.
