First and foremost, Dallas in its original run was from the 1970s to the 1990s ( - just like its spin-off Knots Landing was from the 1970s to the 1990s also.)

(For example, EastEnders had the Den/Angie divorce papers in the 1980s and EastEnders also had the Sharongate AND River Thames Crash storylines with The Mitchell Brothers no longer being close anymore due to falling out over sleeping with each others wives, who were the 2 original female characters Sharon and Kathy and how Sharon and Kathy both each said they thought "maybe they'd married the wrong brother". )

You may perhaps have remembered a first/initial scene during the 1989-1990 season of Dallas that had some sort of repercussion or facilitated a storyline within that particular season?

I mean it could have been a clever crux or something and could have potentially challenged/rivalled the "Who Shot J.R?" of 1979-1980?

Regarding "What were the major storylines during the 1989-1990 season", there are two that come to mind.

The first would be called a tragedy.

The second, well, there's is no name for such a thing because nobody in his right mind would purposely do it. It was a mistake

    1. Bobby finally finds a woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with, April Stevens, and marries her. The talented and highly charismatic Sheree J. Wilson does a tremendous job playing the role of April Stevens. April is an amazing woman. Bobby has found a woman with whom he is truly compatible. They share the same values. She has a great enthusiasm for life, has an optimistic attitude, she likes the oil business, owns her own oil company, and she doesn't have a family that hates Bobby and his family. Bobby has found his ideal woman.

Everyone in the family is happy with Bobby's choice to marry April. They go to Paris for their honeymoon and that's where things go downhill. It turns out there's a major OPEC meeting being held there at the time. There's a crazy woman there who has her group of thugs kidnap April to extort Bobby. If he will pretend this woman is his new bride, April Stevens, and get her into the OPEC meeting, she'll ensure April is safely returned to Bobby. If he refuses, April will be killed.

    2. JR finds out that he has a son he was never told existed. His name is James (played by the non-acting Sasha Mitchell) and he's both dopey and arrogant at the same time. He's about 23 years old and thinks he knows everything. He's a naive, disrespectful, sanctimonious, self-destructive brat. I don't know why they thought this was a good idea.

The Ewing Oil tanker fiasco comes to mind as well in Season 13.

You're right. That was the last good business oriented storyline. Did they ever explain why Cliff, a disgruntled former employee of Ewing Oil, would have been allowed to head the commission created to determine whether Ewing Oil or Westar was to blame for the collision? Despite Cliff heading the commission, it was still a fun, interesting storyline.

BTW, what was a major business oriented storyline from season 12?

It's never occured to me before what a decadent name "Sasha" is. Especially if you'd pronounce Mitchell as Mitchelle.
Surely, a name like that should only exist in a Peter Sarstedt song?

The name Sasha is a boy's name of Russian origin meaning "defending men". How is that decadent?

Hmm, maybe there are different meanings of the word decadent (?)...but anyway, Sasha is...almost Zsa Zsa!

Furthermore, Sasha is also the name of the German actor whom I have cast for the role of NuPeter De Vilbis.

I hope it makes sense now!
