Kind Hearts And Coronets
Brilliant. Alec Guinness is so talented.
Last night I watched "Brooklyn" (2015).
An Irish immigrant lands in 1950s Brooklyn, where she quickly falls into a romance with a local. When her past catches up with her, however, she must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within.
Nick Hornby (screenplay), Colm Tóibín (novel) (as Colm Toibin)
Saoirse Ronan, Emory Cohen, Domhnall Gleeson
Oscar Best Motion Picture of the Year:
Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role
Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay
I must say I loved this one. The only problem is that the trailer, as usual, gives away too much. Saoirse Ronan is perfectly cast and restrained, giving the sense of a deep inner life as a character that might have been a total bore. Every supporting character is great, especially Jim Broadbent, Julie Walters and the guy who plays Eilis´s love interest, Emory Cohen (see the cutie below). The movie is well-directed, wonderfully photographed, the period is reconstructed to every detail, and the writing avoids clichés. If there´s a romantic (not corny) in you, watch this one, you won´t be disappointed. Plus: "Mad Men"´s Jessica Paré has a small role as her wise workmate in a big store. She seems to belong to that period, doesn´t she?
One of my favourite horror flicks
With Jamie Lyn Curtis
I saw a movie with Laurence Olivier & Helen Mirren called "Laurence Olivier Presents: The Collection" on DVD this morning. It was based on an old theatre play and was rather dull to be honest.
Oh I really enjoyed "Brooklyn" saw it at the cinema earlier this year and it made me cry!
Karin, I didn´t but I almost did...the end was so intense!!
Oh and thanks to you and other people responsible for bringing back the TV and pc emos!!
Eddie the Eagle
Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves.
I think we have 2 of the same threads going @Mel O'Drama
The last 2 movies I watched this week was My Best Friend's Wedding (sixth time) and The Wedding Singer (fifth time), loved them, very funny.
I want that soundtrack but it's extremely hard-to-find and expensive
Kingsman: The Secret Service
Far more enjoyable than I was expecting, and pretty funny too.
Amazing Film with Julia Roberts and George Clooney

Silly and heartwarming at the same time.
Another in my ongoing Ealing rewatch. Very enjoyable film.
I can't find a trailer on YouTube, but a scene from the film can be found here.
On Golden Pond (1981) with Katharine Hepburn, Henry Fonda and Jane Fonda. It was great.
Ride Along - Ice Cube and Kevin Hart
Another Ealing rewatch...
