They used it to expand the bedroom.
Maggie's wine stash?
It's where Chase's sense of humour is buried.
Still there, unbeknownst to Chase, Maggie and family. Its existence a secret Jason took to his grave. You only know about it @Snarky's Ghost because you roam the nether regions of the Falcon Crest estate and occasionally pop 'upstairs' for more rarified air.
Ha ha Angela! Very good answer. Seriously there should have been more emphasis, on Jason's secret room. A skeleton could have been unearthed, going back in the Gioberti history.
Clearly, all these shows need an unearthed skeleton at some point. It's a serious missed opportunity if they don't. If the show has a strong identity, it won't even seem like a re-do.
Yeah a skeleton in the area of the secret room would definitely have been a feather in the FC cap, not in season 1 though. DALLAS did their first skeleton in season 2 (DVD-3) while DYNASTY waited until season 9, I think. Unless of course TPTB could incorporate the bones into the mystery of Jason's death (a mystery only to Chase, Maggie and the kids). Given the structure of the first season I personally would've left the discovery to perhaps season 3, when Jacqueline's will was revealed or when 'Tuscany Downs'/'The Turf Club' was opened.
Chase recites a letter to Maggie, from his dad's belongings (one of many written documents in the secret room of the Gioberti castle). The letter written in August 1951 is from Jasper Gioberti (Angela and Jason's father) to Maria Gioberti in Italy, (an unused scene from season 1, 1981 - '82):
"Today Angela won the war she has waged on Jason's wife Jacqueline, ever since he brought her here 12 years ago. Jacqueline fled during the night; taking with her their young son Charles, who we call Chase. I am a prisoner in my own body, for my tongue will not say the words that are in my brain, as well as Angela's prisoner. I do not go out or have visitors. She reaches out like an octopus and encompasses my land; my workers, my grapes and my winery. Now she has destroyed her brother's marriage."
I liked that Gran Hotel did its “unearthed skeleton” differently by making the invisible room be the immaculately preserved bedroom where Angela’s husband would rendezvous with his lover, a discovery that would prove fateful for his daughter. Oh, the repercussions!
The old Vicki is in there along with the original Melissa.
One episode and the secret room was never mentioned again. Something should have been in there, which Jason had that Angela was unaware about, other than the letters. This didn't even need to happen in season one I'm thinking season seven around Chase's codicil, like a trump card. He said he was going to get her.
