I’ve been trying to find UK transmission dates for episodes.

From what I’ve seen there was a huge gap between Bobby’s death in summer 1985 to the next season which apparently went out in spring 1986. Is this right? (Obviously US started transmitting Autumn 85)

I don’t remember the gap being that long but I do remember the subsequent gap between season 9 and 10 being only 2 weeks so that’s how the UK caught up.

If there was such a huge gap between Bobby’s death and next episode, does anybody know the reason why they held back the episodes?

Bobby's death airred on July 17th 1985 and the new series (dream season) started March 8th 1986.

This was all due to the ITV and BBC dispute, plus rights window to broadcast.

See the thread about the BBC trailer for the dream season.

I genuinely don’t remember the gap
Being that long. It’s insane! Uk audiences has to wait nearly a year to see what happened after Swansong!

I can remember reading stuff about Michael Grade and Thames Television regarding that

Not all of us, as mentioned in the previous thread you could rent the 1984-85 season on video and purchase the first half of the 1985-86 season and eventually the cliffhanger.

The only downside was that the buzz went as not everyone watched it at the same time and the dream season wasn't great anyway, coupled with the summer where TV viewing was down anyway. Not a great combination.

I kind of wonder if the BBC wish they had let ITV keep it.

By the end viewing figures were so bad it was shoved on Sunday afternoons.
