I just watched a clip on Youtube from season 5, episode 29 and noticed some familiar faces hanging around (literally) the Moldavian Summer Palace. Portraits of Dolley Madison, Elizabeth Monroe and Caroline Harrison can be found in and outside Amanda's bedroom at the palace.

I assume they had a bunch of portraits in the prop department of "old looking ladies" and didn't think logically as to why a European palace would have portraits of First Ladies in it...

I guess all that mattered was that they looked European, which they do. I can never tell if Amanda's bedroom at the palace was a built set or a real room?

I know most of the palace was shot on site at "Greenacres" (no, not the farm owned by Oliver Wendell Douglas; the Beverly Hills estate of actor Harold Lloyd) but I always assumed the bedroom scenes were filmed on a soundstage. One hint is the round or oval window in Amanda's room - there don't appear to be any round or oval windows at Greenacres, all the small windows are square.

Yeah, I didn't recognize them. How crazy that they did that?? And it took 34 years before anyone noticed -- @Grant Jennings was probably the first!!

    2017 I think (unless it is 2016)
But remember, that WAS the period they would re-shoot scenes if the keys to a car were not the right brand. :confuse:

All the suites were sets except the suite of Ashley in "Royal Wedding". Oddly, a set was used in "The Aftermath", which explains why the suite of Ashley looked completely different in season6's premiere.

Also, they were several suites but only two sets were used (Alexis and Dex's suite = Michael's suite = Steven and Luke's suite = Warwick's office ; Amanda's suite = Blake and Krystle's suite).

I'd look to see if there were any shows that had that kind of "look" in that time period. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it was a re-used set from maybe some legal drama, but the pictures on the wall fit so...
