And that how I'm going to do it when I post the results. I like to keep it simple (in other words: I'm not as smart as Omelol)
Really? With so many great tunes to choose from?
Oh...there are so many. Rich Man Poor Man, I'll Take Manhattan, Who Pays The Ferryman?, The Last Days Of Pompeii, Sons & Daughters, The Flintstones....

    1. Adam Adamant Lives! @J. R.'s Piece
Because I'm a sucker for Bond themes, and this one has "Bond" written all over it.

    2. Hollywood Wives @Ms. Paige
I don't think it gets more 80s than this and it suits the series very well. Song performed by Laura Branigan, but sometimes she sounds like Bonnie Tyler.

    3. Dallas @Toni
I love-love-love all the prime time soap tunes, but this one is the most effective, especially for that late 70s/early 80s era.

    4. True Blood @Emelee
If only the show had been as great as this song (or opening sequence, for that matter).

    5. Follyfoot @Ome
I finally found a CD with this song but it's very expensive, so I think I'll buy the 7" single.

    6. Knight Rider @Richard Channing
Such an iconic tune, I had expected everyone to nominate it.

    7. Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous @Mel O'Drama
A lush, disco-flavoured tune - and I had to include at least one intro by Bill Conti.

    8. Little House On The Prairie @Barbara Fan
Because it's the soundtrack of my childhood, and because I'm totally unbiased.

    9. Doctor Who @angela channing
This was also on my original list, replaced it with something else and now I'm glad I can vote for it.

    10. Howards' Way @Sarah
One of those tunes that makes me feel very nostalgic.

The system is far too clever for its own good sometimes and gets very pedantic about spacing. It's a slippery slope, I think - as anyone who's seen 2001: A Space Odyssey will tell you.

Anyway - I've fixed them up for you so the people you've tagged should get notified. :)

Ah thanks Mel! :) I've tried to figure out why some would tag and others wouldn't in the past to no avail. This time none of them appeared to be tagged until I posted it and then half of them were.

There seemed to be a model for how you wrote TV themes in the 60s to the 80s. So much saxophones, drums and trumpets. Any live big band could play these songs on stage without losing anything.
To be honest, many of them started sounding the same to me as I listened through the nominations.

So now, here are my favorite 10 of your nominations:

    1. Twin Peaks --- @angela channing --- this song is just so beautiful
    2. Game Of Thrones --- @Toni & @Richard Channing --- I get chills every time
    3. Mad Men --- @Toni --- It just sticks to my mind
    4. The Persuaders --- @J. R.'s Piece --- Have always loved this one
    5. Mission Impossible --- @angela channing --- Can it get more classic?
    6. One Tree Hill --- @Ms. Paige --- Hated the show, but loved the song
    7. True Detective --- @Willie Oleson --- The theme song alone makes me interested in giving the series a chance
    8. Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads --- @Ome --- Completely new to me, I fell for it
    9. Central Park West --- @Mel O'Drama --- Always felt quite modern for a primetime soap, just like the MP theme
    10. The Addams Family --- @angela channing --- Who doesn't snap their fingers whenever they hear this one?

    And I just have to.......

The Greatest American Hero (nominated by @Ms. Paige)

That is by Laurie Johnson, who also did the themes and incidental music to several other shows including The Professionals , Jason King (follow-up series to Department S...I met star Peter Wyngarde in March), Shirley's World and The New Avengers

I like it but as soon as it starts, I can't stop myself doing the Richard Basehart (Wilton Knight in the pilot) voiceovers on it.

I'm like that with The Adventurer. The producer (Monty Berman) had produced The Saint, Gideon's Way, The Baron, The Champions, Department S, Randall and Hopkirk Deceased + Jason King (working with Dennis Spooner and Cyril Frankel on five and six of those respectively). They all worked on The Adventurer and it all went wrong. Gene Barry got his co-star Stuart Damon fired after two episodes because Stuart was taller than Gene and got co-star Catherine Schell fired because she was almost as tall as Gene. Shorter replacement co-stars were flown in to replace Stuart Damon. The crew reportedly didn't like working on it, Cyril Frankel fell out with Dennis Spooner and Monty Berman quit television altogether. To watch it, it feels like you are watching a fifty minute show that has been edited down to 25 minutes with most of the important parts left out of the print. But John Barry gave it a memorable theme tune.
