Your wedding day, the happiest day of one's life...Unless you live in Soapland, where it might be if you're lucky, but it you're not it could be humiliating, shocking, disappointing or possibly even fatal.

Your favourite wedding might be one where your favourite couple finally got hitched, or even finally got hitched again, or it may be one that ended in disaster or the ceremony never even went ahead. So, it's really wedding days because weddings that didn't happen also count. Considering most of the inhabitants of Soapland got married two or three times at least there should be plenty to choose from.

If any member has any lawful reason why this battle should not go ahead, speak now or forever hold your peace.

But should it focus on the wedding/almost wedding, or can it be anything that happened that day? I'm thinking about one particular season finale...

    1. Richard marries Maggie - FALCON CREST - Melissa and Carly argue loudly in the background and end up in the pond and Eric arrives at the last minute with some information for Richard which halts the wedding. Brilliant mix of comedy, drama and intrigue that Falcon Crest did so well.

    2. JR marries Sue Ellen - DALLAS - Cliff walks out when the minister says "speak now or forever hold your peace" and later fights with JR and everyone ends up in the Southfork pool.

    3. Melissa marries Lance - FALCON CREST - Melissa and tells Lance after the wedding that she's pregnant with someone else's child and stuffs some cake in Lance's mouth when he's about to reply.

    4. Fielding marries Constance - FLAMINGO ROAD - Skipper is banned from bringing his girlfriend Annabel because she is waitress and not good enough for the rich Weldons so he tells her to meet him at the paper mill so they can elope after the wedding. Meanwhile Titus and Claude plot to burn down the mill during the wedding for the insurance money and Annabel get killed in the arson.

    5. Amanda marries Michael - DYNASTY - after they are pronounced husband and wife Moldavian terrorists fire guns at the wedding guests leaving the cast apparently dead on the floor of the church.

    1. I gotta give the #1 spot to the Amanda/Michael wedding on Dynasty (the "Moldavian massacre" with very little...massacre-ing?).

    2. Much less disastrous is the Mack/Karen elopement to Las Vegas, complete with tacky wedding chapel, on Knots Landing.

    upload_2017-11-6_16-49-14.jpeg

    3. Abby and Gary's KL wedding, juxtaposed against Val having to drop Lilimae off at the mental institution. The look of dread on Laura's face during the vows was hilarious.

    4. Greg and Anne's shotgun wedding on KL, held the day after Val's funeral. Mack remarked at the wedding, "I feel like this is the funeral."

    5. Cathy and Joshua's wedding, KL--if only because of that dress!!

Considering everything that happened on the wedding day, DYNASTY's first wedding has no competition.

    1. Blake Carrington & Krystle Grant (Dynasty)

    2. Vickie Gioberti & Nick Hogan (Falcon Crest)
    upload_2017-11-6_23-59-9.png
"You can leave the papers on my desk, Melissa dear".
    upload_2017-11-6_23-59-59.png
    "It was....you!"

    3. Jeff Colby & Fallon Carrington (The Colbys)

Because they did all that big melodrama, and Sable and Miles were the big losers.

    4. Fielding Carlyle & Constance Weldon (Flamingo Road)

    5. John Ross Ewing & Pamela Rebecca Barnes (Dallas)
    upload_2017-11-7_0-9-51.png
"Because you love me, and because you hate your father"

Special mention: the surprise wedding we didn't see - Diana Fairgate & Tony Fenice (Knots Landing)

As long as we're mentioning the surprise weddings we didn't see, I'll see your "Mr. and Mrs. Fenice" and raise you a "Greg and Laura Avery Sumner". Not getting to see them exchange vows was one of the things I hated the most about that whole season.

    1. DYNASTY - Moldavian unMassacre.
    2. DYNASTY - Adam and Dana marry at the mansion. Was she Dynasty's most beautiful bride? Probably.
    3. THE COLBYS - Fallon and Jeff marry at Miles' home. The cheek of them! Too make it less awkward Fallon comes as the sugar plumb fairy.
    4. DALLAS- JR and Sue Ellen tie the knot (again) on the drive way. Millionaires always do this or so I'm reliably informed.
    5. DYNASTY - Blake and Krystle marry in the pilot. EPIC.

1: Amanda & Michael - Dynasty: for the pure spectacle of it all. Even before the gunshots started ringing out, it was one of the prettier looking weddings on any of the soaps - the ornate wedding chapel, Amanda's "Diana" dress, Michael's military uniform. It looked like a fairytale until of course.....

2: Vicki & Nick - Falcon Crest: a wedding shootout with some actual consequences that people cared about. I'm also a fan of scenes involving entire casts so the finale in the mansion is top notch.

3: Krystle & Blake (first wedding) - Dynasty: because of it's relevance and how it kick-started the entire narrative of the show.

4: Fallon & Jeff - The Colbys: the soft focus, the pink taffeta, Sable dressed like a Disney villainess and Blake's hair looking a bit more blue than usual. Plus Miles getting arrested while mother hen Sable piles in to defend him as the paparazzi take snapshots is such melodrama.

5: Francesca & Jason - The Colbys: "we'd like to thank everyone who travelled to be here today. Especially Frankie's first husband Phillip, who travelled all the way from hell to share this day with us". Also that wedding chapel was very pretty. If I remember correctly, it was used on The O.C too, for Caleb's wedding to Julie and/or his funeral.

Yes Caleb wed Julie at the same chapel as Jason married The Slut. I'm paraphrasing Sable here of course.

1 - Bobby & Pam ("Dallas") (2 for the price of one, no matter how cheesy the flashback to the first one was)
    2 - JR & Sue Ellen ("Dallas")
3 - Melissa & Cole ("Falcon Crest") (after Cole leaves she is taken by Reardon for a ride)
4 - Angela & Phillip ("FC") (you know, the one with the "nun with a gun"...)
5 - Maggie & Richard ("FC") (another "wedding interruptus"...)

Isn't she also shagging father Christopher, the priest who marries them, at the time? Gotta love Melissa, surely the slutiest of all the soaps main characters.

You also need to do a battle of the brides from hell. There were some wedding dress frocky horrors on the soaps.

No she wasn´t. That was the following year (not even Melissa could take so much bed action!) when her divorce from Lance was effective and they had a "catholic" wedding, with hottie Father Chris in the middle (so to say...).

    Ha!

Abby was right, the first Mrs. Ewing never really goes away, even when a scene like this suggests otherwise - or does it?

    upload_2017-11-7_18-38-52.png
    Val...are you happy?
    -
    Yes.
No doubts? It's important to me.
    -No doubts.
    Can I kiss the bride?
-Gary, I'm afraid that would cause a terrible scandal.
    upload_2017-11-7_18-41-19.png
I hope you're happier with Ben than you've ever been in your life.

    06C4845C-B004-478C-B8EC-B567A627BB6E.jpeg Oh this one’s great!!

    Thank you @Richard Channing

I am very torn between 1st and 2nd here as they are my favourites for very different reasons

I’m going to go with 1st Pam and Mark. Such a unique scene in Dallas where pretty much every character is happy and getting on with each other (but not for long!). Victoria look so beautiful here and Pam got a second chance at love with Mark. I loved the scene with Miss Ellie and Pam right before the wedding too. And all the while wondering if Patrick Duffy would run down the aisle to stop the wedding?! And later wishing he had, instead of that shower scene ;-)

    2. The Dynasty massacre. Catherine Oxenberg looked stunning here, the dress, the classical music, everyone’s outfits, the incredibly well filmed and one of the most dramatically unforgettable cliffhangers in all of soapdom. Loved it. Pity about the abysmal follow up but still a gorgeous wedding

    3. Sons and Daughters sweet Jill marrying wicked Wayne til her ‘dead’ husband turned up and stopped them. Some common theme here about presumed dead husbands turning up on their former wives wedding days ;-)

    4. Alexis marrying Dex. Those two had charisma!!

    5. Dana marrying Adam. Leann Hunley is an incredibly elegant lady

I would like to put Pam and Bobbys wedding here but that distracting head piece and uncertainly executed flashback, Jenna’s pregnancy and the dream resolution left it a little too lack lustre and a bit sad for me :-(
But at least they were back together!! :)

What about a list of weddings we’d like to have seen, that happened off scene? Lol. Pam and Bobbys real first wedding in ‘78 as the show began, dan and Stephanie’s in return to Eden and Miss Ellie and Clayton’s in dallas to name some examples ;-)

Loved how the soap weddings always graced the mag covers too, tabloid or tv mag sales soared!
