There isn't much discussion on this forum about Eric Stavros (season 5 to 7) and Nick Agretti (season 8). Eric was forgettable to me (just like another Lance but with a gambling problem) and I thought Nick was mundane, A* on the bore scale. So what do you say?

I thought Nick and his son Ben were nice and likeable, but Eric was super fun, especially when he hooked up with Vicky and they became total screw-ups.

Neither were particularly memorable which was a shame because they were related to great characters and could have had so much potential. They arrived on the show when Falcon Crest was on the decline and they weren't given particularly gripping storylines. Had they been introduced a few seasons earlier it could have been very different.

Of the two of them IMHO Eric was more entertaining. Although his tendency to defy Peter's orders got tiring after a while and it echoed Lance's resistance to Angela. Eric could be creepy, where as Nick was right down the middle. With all due respect to John Callahan's acting ability his character Eric was just okay. Nick not getting along with his father Frank was puzzling because as James pointed out Nick was nice, probably too syrupy nice. Perhaps it was owing to an involvement on Nick's part with Anna Cellini, who was stunning looking by any standards but maybe just a family thing from years ago i.e. a notion, which most of the Agretti circle had.

Vicki and Eric pull up at Del Oro, chauffeured of course. Emma is tying the knot with psychic Vince Karlotti and before the mass the guests are having pre wedding drinks. The gatecrashers (Vicki and Eric) manage to down two glasses of bubbly each, (a scene from season 6, 1986 - '87):

    Vicki: "Ah I love weddings!"

Eric speaks to the driver: "To the church Charles ....."

Soon the young Gioberti woman and the Stavros heir are at the church. Both of them are rushing and manage to get trapped in the thick door, of the limo.

Eric: "You gotta fix the door Charles."

Limo driver: "My name isn't Charles. It's Willard you bloody jackass!"

This reminded me of the new Vicki, and how much I disliked her. I liked Jamie Rose's portrayal, but this one came off as very unlikable. The writer's turned her into a mean, spoiled brat, imho. This coincided with how unlikable they made Chase in his last season. Thete was something about the way Vicki and especially Chase treated Maggie after she had been kidnapped, raped, and not knowing if the rapist was the child's father, that soured the season for me. It didn't fit the characters and was not pleasant to watch. However, Susan Sullivan as Maggie shined in this season, even more than usual.

But they didn't fit in the earlier storylines, therefore I'm not sure if I would have liked them better.
Apart from Frank, none of the additional Agrettis did anything for me - although I didn't really hate them.
Eric was my favourite of the Stavros clan.

Oh, I liked Bad Vicky and Bad Chase. There was something dysfunctional and real and almost raw about them not knowing how to deal with Maggie's kidnap/rape/pregnancy ordeal. I mean, who would?

Interesting observation about it is portraying the characters as acting "real." It's a horrific situation, and we humans don't react to such things in ways that make "sense." For example, a person may have some anger at someone who has died, or harbor guilt for that which we have no control. I guess I wanted them to be patient and compassionate with Maggie, but the reality, as you point out, is that real people weren't put here to always act as we want them to act.
I wonder how this scenario would have played put if David Jacob's had written it.

Vicky 2 was a spoiled brat and a horrible bitch. And not in a good way.

Vicky 1 never wanted to be there in the first place, but she caved in, eventually.
And then she moved to sinful, self-absorbed New York, far away from Chase and Maggie's guidance and moral sensibilities. It was the opposite situation of Diana Fairgate whose character mellowed after she moved to New York.

I feel like the very brief period after Bad Vicky arrived and before Cole sailed away to Australia is the most Jacobsian the Giobertis ever were.

I enjoyed Jamie's Vicki mainly because she was an active part of the Gioberti family, in season 1 and 2. The first Vicki was a pleasant person. If she had a down side it was that she was easily led, look at the handling in the latter part of season 1. When the character came back in 1986 we soon learnt that she had toughened up, albeit with an attitude problem. So as much as Dana Sparks provided her best with what was fired at her; she wasn't my favourite of the two portrayals, not by a long shot.

Angela is giving Vicki a tour of the Gioberti graveyard. The granny who loves grapes must have felt she needed this tour, (a scene from season 6, 1986 - '87):

    Vicki: "This is some family."

Angela: "You're darn right! Stubborn to the last, every one of us. With all our faults there are none better."

Angela walks away out of the graveyard, leaving her grandniece to think about what she has said.

Eric and the second Vicki both deserved each other, irritating so and sos. The white slave plot was truly awful apart from Ursula Andress and then Eric became a robot.

Oh my god, yes it was.
Although I wouldn't be surprised if that very storyline was written for Ursula Andress. Falcon Crest really loved its guest stars.

There are valid points in each of the posts but I really didn't mind Eric and Nick. I wouldn't necessarily put them in the top disliked characters. Eric's sister Sofia, Katherine Demerey, Robin Agretti, Carly Fixx, R.D. Young and Lauren Daniels would be there though.
