Yeah, who knew that all these vocalists who were hired to provide vocals for UK-based Hi-NRG labels turned out to be such great guitarists?

    It's just uncanny!

I went to my ipod to help me choose my ten, and was shocked to find there's only 4 of her songs on there. So, I'm adding her best stuff now - which means the whole of Heaven On Earth, the whole of Runaway Horses, probably all of Live Your Be Free, and a bit of Belinda.
Real, and A Woman & A Man can stay on the shelf.

I wanted this one in my list but ran out of room. I love how dark and angry and bitter it is and it has some great lyrics that are fun to sing:

"Well my mind's playing tricks. To think of you and her just makes me sick."

"Baby baby I know that we're two of a kind. That's why I've got suspicion on my mind."

I like the last few second with the rain and the repeated, unintelligible lyrics. In my mind I picture her singing this song as she drives down a dark, rainy highway racing to find out if her lover is cheating on her and in those ending seconds I imagine she crashed her car. It's like the Dynasty cliffhanger of Belinda Carlisle songs.

I love that You're Nothing Without Me is on three members lists.

Even though I place a couple of other non singles higher, YNWM is the most obvious hit single ......if only it had been given the chance.
Ever since Kim Wilde did the very Belindery Love Is album, I've hoped she would cover it, but I'm still waiting and hoping. It needs to be a single for someone !

I had to check how long I've liked Belinda, and it's been since 1992 or 1993. Before I turned 10 at least. I recall listening a lot to her best of album
The Best of Belinda, Volume 1 that was released in 1992. As a tribute to that album, I will only list songs that on said album.

It's a challenge to find ABBA tracks that haven't been released as a single somewhere. Even Rock Me wasn't spared. But I think these all tick the box...

    1. The Piper
    2. The Way Old Friends Do
    3. Like An Angel Passing Through My Room
    4. Reina Danzante
    5. Me And I
    6. Andante, Andante
    7. Conociéndome, Conociéndote
    8. Our Last Summer
    9. My Love, My Life
    10. Mamma Mia [Spanish Version]

It was certainly difficult to find any ABBA song that were not released as a single, and I assume that the b-sides of a single also count as a single release. So there is not much left. And then the problem that some songs were released in other countries as singles, but I keep the official single discography list as an example.

But i find some great non singles after all. ;)

    01. My Love, My Life
    02. Our Last Summer
    03. Lovers (Live A Little Longer)
    04. Soldiers
    05. What About Livingstone?
    06. I'm A Marionette
    07. Why Did It Have To Be Me?
    08. Me And I
    09. If It Wasn’t For The Night
    10. Me and Bobby and Bobby’s Brother

We're making it a little bit more complicated than we need to be. What I'm looking at is songs that weren't released as a single to promote the album in the normal way albums and singles were released back then. Just looking at Wiki at all their albums dedicated pages, it lists what has been released as a single

B-sides are fine because they were never released as a single to promote the album. As far as I'm aware they were never promoted on TV shows or the radio, it would (in most cases) be the A-side that was played.

My thinking behind doing this was to create the more popular songs that most people aren't that familiar with. I'm bored of seeing The Winner Takes it All, Dancing Queen and all those other big selling records and thought it would be far more interesting to see who likes what from those not normally spoken about.

Ah well. It worked out well for me to have less choice. Basing it on tracks that weren't released as singles anywhere (so far as I can see), I was left with less than fifteen tracks that I like enough to include. Which made things easier.

I love that we've done ABBA a few different times now, and in different ways. Hope we can do this for some other artists, too.

I guess that answers my (initial) question: are we allowed to ignore the East-European flexidiscs and obscure Taiwanese promo singles?
But I'd feel terribly uncomfortable to ignore the B-sideso_O

    1. If It Wasn't For The Nights

There's something about Frida's "loose cannon" act that I really like (and how I'd love to have those golden boots!)
    2. I Am The City
    3. Another Town Another Train (this has a very transatlantic sound, if I didn't know it was ABBA I would never have guessed it was them)
    4. I Let The Music Speak
    5. Dum Dum Diddle (weird but catchy)
    6. Two For The Price Of One
    7. One Man One Woman
    8. Me And I
    9. Suzy-Hang-Around
    10. The Way Old Friends Do (one of their naffest songs imo, I guess it's that seafare folklore sound that makes it so nostalgic)

I think I've also discovered ABBA's worst song (it's a dreadful Goombay Dance Band knock-off)

But wait! We could also do the Agnetha vs. Frida solos battle top 10.
