Should I buy a big rug for my dining room?

The rug in the dining room is worn on the sides, such that I've taken to putting small rugs (like bathroom or kitchen floor mats) over the rough spots to obscure them. But it's increasingly unsightly and even dangerous given how easy it is to trip over those tiny rugs on-top-of rugs.

    Should I replace it?

And how about one of these? They both remind me of an heirloom rug of my grandparents which was supposed to go to me but that my mother destroyed "accidentally" before I could obtain it.

Oh yes... Get one. Like those pictured they are gorgeous. I love rugs. I have a smaller one kinda similar in my bedroom. Though it's not an expensive Persian one. It's a lookilikey knock off one.

Are whores legal? I'd hate to break some ordinance.

I, too, was leaning torwards the first one -- it's a darker wine color, but it's pre-owned, so you're not sure of the cooties it might carry.

Now I'm looking at the second one, even if it's a wee bit more crass and the red brighter. The outer design is more similar to my grandparents' old rug, but the inner section of the first one is more similar to my grandparents'.

Not that it has to be exact, of course.

The dining room also tends to be rather dark (except in the morning) so perhaps the brighter rug will be better?

What's a boy to do??

Does the periphery of the first, darker one, look just a wee bit .... vaginal? Complete with ovaries and fallopian tubes?

I should've been suspicious when I saw it was advertised as part of The Georgia O'Keeffe Collection.

Thank you all for you suggestions. I went ahead and purchased the redder one (for the reasons I mentioned above). I'll let you know how it all turns out.

But, sheesh, the old rug was in a lot worse condition than I realized once I removed it (and took it to Goodwill yesterday)!

Well, this isn't the first time I've had the rug pulled out from under me, literally. Perhaps I shouldn't have discussed it online.

    Problems with the seller.

Maybe it's just as well, as wheelchairs tend to be pretty tough on rugs. So now I just have a bare dining room floor with a new grey rug pad rolled up to one side... I don't think I'll try again for a while, as I don't have the energy and see it as a sign.

    Grumble.... :censer:

Well, it arrived on Friday. It's gorgeous -- kind of a combination of both rugs I posted at the top of the thread. So luxurious, I just rolled around on it and said my prayers. Now I don't want anybody to walk on it, but that probably isn't practical.

I got it at half price, but I still paid more than I would have with the other two rugs I was struggling between. It's new, an American-made rug by Karastan, 9x12, etc...

Funny, but the political situation in Iran really is effing up imports of Persian rugs.
