I think I am on episode 10 and my oh my. They are dressing Joan in classic Alexis! This is such a blatant attempt at Alexis and I would lie if I said I didn't love it.

Fiona Hughes is in a car crash... however, her hair still looks FAB-U-LOUS!!!!!

This is more important than the actual plot. Also, shitty background music.

Fiona's character finally gets some purpose by the last episodes or two.

I also noticed the story consultant by the end isnt Charles Pratt jr...but Latham.

I am ranting about this show but... on episode 12 and yes. Fiona and her fabulous hair is getting some storyline action!

Seriously, this show is horribly plotted.

Why are you calling Finola Hughes "Fiona"? I usually love her, but her talent is completely wasted on this show.

I'm not sure about that, at least there was a story to tell with the Joanna/Rachel thing, (which I'm making a point not to spoil should @Alexis start watching) but I'll grant you it was poorly told. Kate, on the other hand, served absolutely no purpose IMHO.

The show is so poorly plotted that I'm not surprised it flopped.

Also, Joan's part in the show is mega-weird. She first shows up (with a special credit to boot!), then disappears for a few episodes and then re-appears with something that can be called a storyline. It makes me think when the show initially bombed after Beverly Hills 90210 they were far into the production, went and got Joan then went back re-filmed parts for her first episode without much plan on what exactly to do with her character. I *almost* feel inclined to go back and watch her first appearance to see if it's noticable, but I do think this must be the case.

The Alexis-style costumes are hilarious though. They basically re-created her court room outfit in one episode!

80s primerime soaps employed old time movie stars to star on their show...and it sppears as if the 90s primetime soap trend was to employ an 80s primetimw soap star to launch/save a 90s primetime soap.

    joan collins - pacific palisades
Emma Samms/linda Gray - models Inc
    Heather Locklear- melrose place
Lauren hutton (doesnt totally count) - central park West

Getting back on subject, there was a rumor that Kylie Travis (models inc and Central Palr West) was the original choice for the Laura real estate character.

I read this on Wikipedia last night..
The show was originally supposed to be a vehicle for Erika Eleniak.[1] She was due to play the Laura Sinclair role which was eventually given to Kimberley Davies.

Ted Shackelford & Mimi Kennedy - Savannah
William Devane & Susan Sullivan - The Monroes
    Donna Mills - Melrose Place
Stephanie Beacham - Beverly Hills 90210

Ah well I will have to make do with these strangely edited episodes that are around 30 mins. I actually quite liked the first one.

Mission abandoned. I wont be watching anymore of this as watching the butchered 30 min episodes feels wrong and doesn't make sense. I cant watch half a show that was already only half a show to begin with. Even if I do fancy the pants off of Nick...

I'm late to the party here but I watched some of this to see if it was as awful as I remember and it's actually worse. I remember when I first heard about the show, Joan Collins mentioned it in a radio interview some years after the show had ended and described it as being "really, really awful. Even though it was by Aaron Spelling". She sounded surprised as she made the Aaron Spelling reference, having clearly never seen the trainwreck that was Models Inc. Despite her glowing review, I was still anxious to see it and I remember my delight when it finally washed up in the middle of the night on Irish TV. A delight that soon turned to despair.

I get the Knots Landing meets Melrose vibe that they were aiming for but this was probably the most poorly conceived and poorly cast of any of the Spelling soaps. Individually, the cast aren't bad. But as an ensemble, they never clicked. And as for the premise. It's like they threw a dart at a map of LA and decided on the name first and then tried to build a show around it.
