The outrageous violent protesting at UC Berkley tonight to block free speech should result in the immediate cutting of federal funding to the entire UC system and any other university that condones the blocking of free speech on their campus.

An inflammatory, alt-right, Breitbart troll triggers a fiery protest. What a shock. A troll who, by the way, was permanently banned from Twitter for "inciting or engaging in the targeted abuse or harassment of others". A troll who propagates racism, misogyny, and anti-Islam views. Then, when he elicits the exact reaction he intended, he has the gall to play victim and b!tch about infringement of free speech. What a crock.

Trump lashes back at Berkeley after snub of Breitbart writer Milo Yiannopoulos
President Trump raised the threat of pulling federal funds from the University of California at Berkeley on Thursday after the institution canceled a talk by provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos and put the campus on lock down after intense protests against the planned speech.

    • While Trump framed his early morning tweet around free speech and opposition to violent demonstrations, his critics are likely to interpret the message as indirect support for Yiannopoulos, a deeply polarizing figure who portrays himself as a champion of open expression but whose detractors view as a hate-monger.
    • “If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view — NO FEDERAL FUNDS?” wrote Trump.
    • Yiannopoulos also writes for the Breitbart website, whose founder, Stephen K. Bannon, is a key Trump adviser. Yiannopoulos has a large following as a self-proclaimed “free-speech fundamentalist” crusading against political correctness. He was banned from Twitter this summer after sending tweets targeting a black actress.
    • Some schools have canceled or indefinitely postponed his appearances because they often generate such intense responses.
    • That leads some to argue that his speech is being censored. Others counter that universities aren’t required to pay security and other expenses when students invite speakers.
    • With free speech an exceptionally volatile issue on campuses across the country — with debate over code words, safe spaces, implicit bias, microagressions, and free-speech — his events have become flash points.
    • His cross-country tour touched off intense opposition in Berkeley on Wednesday.
    • The Daily Californian, the student newspaper at Berkeley reported that protesters were chanting, “’No Milo, no Trump, no fascist USA,’” setting off fireworks, throwing rocks and bricks and pounding on windows. They reported that university police later used rubber bullets and tear gas in an attempt to calm the crowd.
    • “Amid violence, destruction of property and out of concern for public safety, the University of California Police Department determined that it was necessary to remove Milo Yiannopoulos from the campus and to cancel tonight’s scheduled 8 p.m. performance,” the university announced Wednesday night. The decision was made about two hours before the event, to a crowd of more than 1,500 protesters gathered outside the venue.

Nonsense. The speech was canceled because of the violence caused by 150 masked agitators. Yes, the violence was wrong. However, canceling the speech for obvious safety reasons has nothing to do with 'blocking free speech'.

As for the 1500 peaceful protestors, they were - just like the inflammatory speaker - also entitled to exercising their right to free speech by protesting his appearance.

Some folks of course love to salivate at the prospect of universities' funding being cut. And what would you like to replace it with? Resurrect that con Trump "University"?

With that and an inept fool like Betsy DeVos, they'd like to kill off whatever's left of an already inadequate public education system, because vulgarians like Trump can only be in power with uneducated and ignorant masses out there.

SueEllenRules! to Schoolyard Bully Trump: Look, @$$hole, you're president, not king. And barely president, I might add. You're going to find out that your powers are limited. And probably sooner rather than later when the vast majority of Americans decide they've had it with you. Dolores Claiborne also has a message for you:

The protesters were infiltrated by right wing extremists who acted violently to discredit a legitimate protest against a neo-fascist. People who stand up to right-wing extremists should be allowed to protest without being made to look like criminals for the actions or Trump sympathisers.

The violence was preplanned to prevent the speech from happening and universities are shaking down sponsoring clubs for last minute ransoms of $6,000 for extra security fees in an attempt to prevent the speeches from taking place. That's CENSORSHIP plain and simple. Deliberate destruction of property and condoning it by not doing anything to stop it is not peaceful at all. Standing with signs, speaking your own beliefs, and allowing others to freely speak theirs IS.

LOL, the protesters are doing a fine job of delegitimising themselves all on their own.

After that DeploraBall jackass was exposed organizing "Rape Melania" antics, I wouldn't put it past them.

Speech, hehe... A fur-clad Jewish gay attention whore with a British accent making derogatory comments about the Muslims, the feminists and transgender people, while half of America can't even spell properly. Give me a break.

He may be an exhibitionist sociopath devoid of all empathy, but he's not too retarded to understand words carry weight. He likes to toss them around with complete disregard for basic human decency and then whine when they cause outrage from his safe place on YouTube.

You play with fire, you get burned.

The dictionary definition of fascism is "right-wing system," which automatically embraces your politics and excludes mine. Then it goes on to note that it's synonymous with nationalism, xenophobia, and racism, which was the exact platform the Trump campaign ran on. Deflect that.

Is there any support for this theory?

Of course, I'd like to believe it, but I'm not sure today's collegiate special snowflake brigade really needs to be encouraged in this sort of behavior. Some of the contemporary leftists seem to have become their own worst enemies now --- as much as if they really had been infiltrated by right wing plants (but probably weren't).

No, the violence isn't a good idea. Worse, it will just further propel Milo into the fame-sphere he openly admits craving.

I wish I actually disliked him more than I do, but that's probably my own issue.

Milo was a leftist before he realized inciting right wing hate would line his bank account. But then, so was Trump and Bill O'Reilly and numerous others conservative politicians who once frequented lavatories or Miami foam parties and maybe still do.

They say the biggest business in Washington (to say nothing of the Kremlin) is sexual blackmail. So Milo's being out of the closet can only help/hurt/unaffect his cause.

It's in your dictionary, too, huh? I suppose some right-wingers view fascism as a badge of honor.

I do pity the wretchedly unhappy troll. A self-loathing gay man from a broken home who took the bullying and the ostracism he had been subjected to and channeled it into a conceited yet vapid cartoon character that takes that bullying out onto others. A little cha-ching he milks out of it may bring some misguided comfort he got the last laugh, but he'll get an ending to match the misery he came from.
