That would be fun. One season thin, the other season overweight. And so on.
Then, when she becomes too much trouble, they replace her with Shelley Long.
We're only looking someone to play a bitch.
Well, in theory, if we go by the original casting, nuAlexis needs to be someone who everyone pegged originally as having a great career, but never quite got there for whatever reason. Someone who still managed to have a solid career, just not quite reaching to the title of being a star... someone like Joan in other words. I don't think Nicolette applies to this.
Not many do as Hollywood is just so different now. Madeleine Stowe I guess had a bit of that when she went on Revenge but not quite the same thing. It would have to be an actress of about 50 or late 40s and she would have to be very beautiful and have bite. It's quite a hard challenge really.
Barr is less than a decade older than Grant Show. Let's do it. Let's go all out.
Roseanne can saunter in to court in a big hat, lifts the veil to reveal a fried drumstick, and off we go to never look back!
Nicolette Sheridan as Alexis? No thanks. Why not think outside the box and go looking for some exotic European actress. Someone that is not tainted by any American TV Series. The role of Alexis needs to be filled by someone that has lived away from Atlanta and America but more importantly, the Carrington family and it's influence. Since the pilot episode has touched on the character I'll be interested to know if her name comes up again in future episodes and reasons for not being with her family.
I bet not too many Americans were aware of Joan Collins before her role as Alexis Carrington. Why not try the same thing again?
For the sake of generating publicity, I don't think they'll go with a complete unknown. I reckon it'll be someone whose arrival will generate some headlines. Joan's star had waned by the 80's. However she did have a steady run of guest spots on big US TV shows from the 60's onwards like Star Trek, Batman, Starsky & Hutch and Fantasy Island to name a few, so she would've been known or at least recognised, by anyone who was a regular TV viewer around that time.
As for Nicolette, she has that edginess that I'd like to see Alexis have. And given that she hasn't had a regular TV gig since she left Desperate Housewives nearly a decade ago, I'd imagine that her salary expectations may have dropped within the CW's affordability. I do like the idea of Alexis being from abroad though. An exotic bird that crashes into the Carrington's world.
No No No... Alexis should be British. Please don't change that, I can deal with born in England/lived in America but she should have that British snob thing that Americans just cant do as well. I don't want her to be from elsewhere in Europe either. She can live where ever the hell she likes but she should be British. And no... No unknown as Alexis please. It has to be someone who has worked, had a career and knows how to act and can be relied upon to deliver certain things in the performance.
When I think exotic I don't think Europe anyways I think Africa, India, South America or Asia.
Unknown doesn't mean untalented.
Before North & South I had never heard of Terri Garber, and before "V" I had never heard of Jane Badler. Both classic TV villains (their roles, I mean).
There is no perfect candidate, she just have to make that role her own, and make it work.
I'm glad I don't have to make that decision
Kate O'Mara did indeed look exotic but that's not what one instantly thinks of when thinking European. She just had freakishly amazing bone structure and was raised partly in India and other really exotic destinations.
Alexis just needs to be a known name. Not a international superstar but a known actress. I cant deal with another actress on a par with Nathalie Kelley. No....
You have to be strong, Alexis.
Correction, nuAlexis has to be strong.
Yes, like a horse, because NuCristal is not having any of it. Not this time!
Forgot how good Jane can do bad...she was the stuff of nightmares.
Steven better hide his gerbil
That could be interesting. Monique was the first incarnation of Empire's Cookie, despite what Lee Daniels lies and says.
A sort of Sally Spectra type.
Right on all points.
I'd love to see Kate Beckinsale as Alexis but she isn't going to do a series - definitely not one on the CW.
My choice: HEATHER LOCKLEAR
Judging by the Alexis reference in the promo for tonight's episode, she's not gonna be a woman who is afraid to embrace her trashier side.
