how can you drown in a swimming pool? its unheard of. Samantha Womack and therefore Ronnie are both tall and could've easily stood up in there. It was probs only about 3ft deep and what happened to Roxy? can she not swim? if so why jump in?

But it was beautifully shot. Very gothic.

Sadly, no it isn't. But in the case of EastEnders, possible reasons were discussed months ago.

For some reason, I've never forgotten Rod Corkhill's solemn pronunciation that it's possible to drown in an inch of water.

That's why I was so grateful for the heads up. Brookside and What Lies Beneath are the two main reasons I prefer showering* to bathing.

    * I know there's Psycho, but somehow that doesn't seem entirely the fault of the shower.

You can drown in almost any depth of water if you choose not to come up for breath.

I've always been careful not to touch a light switch with wet hands ever since Laura was electrocuted and fell down the stairs on Brookside.

    Very wise indeed, RC.

Someone needs to publish a "Life Lessons from 'Brookside'" book. Think of the lives that could be saved.

I just remembered the boy who drowned in Barrymore's pool but that was at a party with lots of drinking and whatever else doing down. Roxy had been taking drugs but Ronnie hadn't.

Still cant believe they killed both of them off but it was a good episode.

I almost drown drinking a cuppa soup. No... choked. I choked on a cuppa soup, it was a crouton I think. Did anyone on Brookside do that?

Yes, Damon Grant tragically died from choking on a cuppa soup right after he was stabbed. Debbie tried to revive him by feeding him the cuppa soup but a crouton got lodged in this throat. By the time he eventually coughed it out, blinding Debbie in one eye, it was too late. He died moments later.

Too soon to be joking about Damon's death. It was almost thirty years ago, but still too soon.

I hear you. It is, still to this day, one of the most tragic deaths in soap history, not least for how realistically they portrayed the mourning process for all concerned.
