Not unless you have saved some of the threads offline.
I have a few saved on my computer that I can still access offline. But it's not much.

Some are accessible via google cache but not the one I'm looking for. I was trying to view a thread dealing with knots salaries that someone posted.
Wasn't there even an old backup...?
(I'm a computer geek so trying to have 2 of each :) )

That's so kind of you to offer to help. I'm not certain but if I've understood the problem correctly I think they have thrown out their old computers. :(

It is frustrating to know that there's a possible backup out there, even if it isn't recent.

Who would like to see some old Ultimatedallas.com Forum stuff,

as an Admin of a forum, we use a place to save Forum pages.

Now a show of hands here, and I will show the URL to where UltimateDallas.com has been saved in lots of pieces ( 848 captures ) since 2000.

And even the good ole Larry Hagman page is there too.:eyes:

You will be amazed of the content, as if we were really there again.

Not only you will feel at home again, but Administrators can rebuild .css colour changes back into the forum, to get the old feel, and also pick-up all the forum links again. :ex:

    Here is the link:-
    https://web.archive.org/web/*/Http://www.ultimatedallas.com

    So all you do here,
is you select the year at header of calendar,
then select a day in a month,
and now select the pop-up link.
Bingo you are looking Back from the Future. :welcome:

    And Soapchat.net from 2003:-
    https://web.archive.org/web/20030209064932/Http://www.soapchat.net

and can see all the Members online, and Archives here:-
    https://web.archive.org/web/20080729224815/http://www.soapchat.net:80/

P.s. you will notice a lot of pages don't work, because they/ those pages were not saved.
Just like the www.oilbaron.com was not saved at all. :rip:

P.s.s in some cases, the first page not work, but page 3 does.
So just play around and see what you do find.

P.s.s.s. to find calendar entries again, click ( # of captures ) link top left of the Way back Machine.

There seemed to be a time where Soapchat.net went quiet,

from the 4th of February 2010:-
    https://web.archive.org/web/20100104081927/http://www.soapchat.net:80/index.php

( any saved data does not work between these dates anymore )

till the 7th of June 2013:-
    https://web.archive.org/web/20130607040907/http://www.soapchat.net:80/index.php

which was the last date that there were 1000's of Users.

    [IMG]Currently Active Users
There are currently 19385 users online. 277 members and 19108 guests

Most users ever online was 30,431, 07-07-2010 at 06:21 PM.

and possibly the end of the Soapchat live chatbox ?

My goodness, that was a blast from the past looking at all the registered users online

So many people there and so busy, many I have met in real life and who sadly no longer post here

I dont think I will ever fully get over and understand the loss of the original forum and will probably need to visit Dr Elby one of these days ;)

I often wonder what happened to the people who posted and became a part of your "Dallas life online" and I hope they are happy x

Thanks you JR's son for those flashbacks from the past.

Soapchat was definitely not quiet in between 2010 and 2013. But it's interesting how those years are not working since those were when the new Dallas came on the air and the board was the busiest it's ever been! ;)

I miss the days when we had 1000's of people online at the same time. Like BF I wonder where those fans have gone to these days?
Are they no longer Dallas fans or are they posting on social media rather than here or are they busy with real life and no longer have the time to come here?

I guess it can be either one of these three options...

They probably lost interest discussing the soaps. Many members had already stopped posting messages long before the site crash. In most cases it probably wasn't a decision to quit soapchat, it just happened.
Maybe the concept of discussions forums has become a little old-fashioned, therefore I find it quite luxurious that we still have a place to discuss our favourite tv shows - and movies and music and random things we hate and whatnot.

Soapchat covers all the things I like and it's also the most slick and fabulous forum I've ever seen.
There are some quiet periods but it also depends on your own input. I'm here for my own entertainment, but I'm not going to sit back and wait for others to entertain me.

The good thing about the 'Waybackmachine' is that if we all had saved a page, almost the entire Soapchat would of been readable.

Many of us have used that waybackmachine to re-post some topics after the site crash.
As for the discussions of, say, 2003 - I'm sorry but those are no longer relevant. I don't mean that they had to disappear, it's just that they had become inactive for various reasons e.g. the members who posted in those threads had gone, or because the very same topics had been repeated several times after that (which doesn't bother me at all, btw).

A discussion is a "moment", like in real life. You don't say to people, "btw, what you said 15 years ago...*". No, it's over, it's done and you start new conversations.

The only things I miss are some of the review threads, or fake-review threads like DYNASTIER.
But there's always someone who starts his/her own review thread, and it gives us the opportunity to discuss the shows again or even from a different angle, also because we ourselves change.
It often made me cringe when someone quoted one of my posts from 10 or 15 years ago. So there's the upside.

*unless it happens in a soap

    Thanks for that,
and yes when a thread is updated on the Waybackmachine,
it can wipe-out the recorded thread if posts were removed/lost, since the last save.
I cannot remember everything anymore, but is good to have a Forum,
    and not Facebook. :hat:
