J.R. didn’t deserve a happy ending. And J.R. and Sue Ellen are a terrible couple that brings out the worst in each other - I don’t get how people conflate that into a great romance. I would have had Pam return, and reunite with Bobby. Tired of J.R.’s antics and the dysfunctional family, they decide to start a new life elsewhere and drive off Southfork in a new red Mercedes, in a nice bookend to the opening scenes of the first episode. And J.R. is left all alone at Southfork, having driven everyone off with his wheeling and dealings.
