Most recently known for playing Sandy in Emmerdale, I remember Freddie Jones from an old children's TV series called The Ghosts of Motley Hall. He also starred in the films Dune and The Elephant Man.

Emmerdale star Freddie Jones has died today at the age of 91.

The actor, who played Sandy Thomas in the ITV soap, passed away, his agent has confirmed.

Freddie was the father of British acting legend Toby Jones and two other sons in the industry - the director Rupert Jones and actor Casper Jones. His wife - their mother - is the actress Jennifer Heslewood.

He was part of the show for 13 years, joining in 2005 and filing his last scene in 2018.

Oh gosh. Me too, as it turns out. I watched it for the first time a year or two ago.
