Can someone please tell me when Dallas was first shown in Canada? The reason I ask is that someone on You Tube insists that she remembers seeing it in Canada way before she left home in 1976. I know this can't be right, given that, for one thing, David Jacobs didn't pitch his original idea (for Knots) until 1977, but it did get me wondering when it actually did start in Canada. Thanks.

It wasn't even made until early 1978 and then broadcast in April of the same year so that person definitely didn't see it in 1976 unless from a premonition.

I don't know when the CBC picked it up but most Canadians could watch it on CBS from the beginning as well. I was 4 when it premiered but I definitely recall watching it from the beginning.

Pam and Bobby were a lifelike Barbie and Ken in my mind at the time. I remember squeezing the felt ink out of a brown marker to try and turn Barbie's hair brown and coloured Ken's hair black with a marker. I wish I still had those messy dolls.

Dallas didn’t broadcast anywhere until 1978.

    April 2 is the birth.

Point me in their direction. They won’t get far!

I found this website listing 1978 TV airings in Canada.

The first mention of Dallas is Spy in the House and it's listed as airing 22 September 1978 whereas the original airdate in the US was 16 April 1978. It doesn't mention whether the episode was a rerun or not however I think it may have been a catch up because on the next page the episode Runaway aired on the same date (28 October 1978) as in the US, so by season 2 they were airing same day apparently.

Thanks for the info Miss Texas 1967 - very interesting article.

    Sarah, here's the link.

If the link doesn't work, go to YouTube and type in Dallas Opening and closing theme song, and when the links to the uploads come up, choose the one by Steven Brandt. The comment is almost at the bottom - second one up.

I wouldn't normally argue with someone on YouTube, but when it comes to Dallas I think it important to stop the spreading of the B's (Bullshit, Balderdash and Bollocks)
