Sad news, rest in peace Leslie. x
I rarely get drawn into these public tributes from former colleagues which generally range from perfunctory to hypocritical.
Leslie's though, have been quite fascinating. MPs and Page 3 girls alike saying how charming he was. Anita Dobson's filmed comments were just lovely. She still has such polish and a touch of magic that makes her endlessly watchable.
Of course, Grantham made TV history more than once thanks to EastEnders (not least speaking the first line in Episode One and the final, snarled line in the Christmas Day 1986 episode). But I was very pleasantly surprised to read in Michael Cashman's tribute that Grantham had spoken out against Section 28. I hadn't realised that, so all respect to him for it.
Bit late in the day but very sad to hear of Grantham's death.
He along with Anita Dobson should be proud that he made EastEnders the success it was in its early years
