@James from London did a wonderful thread on the 1980s era Brookside.

I'm prompting him to try and salvage it again as there were some excellent synopsis of episodes, especially episodes from the late 1987 to early 1990 era of the series

... which @Canon then took on and developed with some great, unique screencaps. Sadly I didn't keep a record of that thread.

I saw Simon O'Brien on TV yesterday. He played Damon Grant. He was on a DIY programme. Find it, Fix it, Flog it. He is now also a property developer. i remember him as a teenager , son of the Grants. He is now 51. Not sure if he still acts.

I loved Brookie so much that I started watching Emmerdale partly because Debbie (Gillian Kearney) and Ronnie (John McArdle) were in the cast.

This is the strange thing, Channel 4 should've stuck by Brookside, given it a major revamp, so it was able to move into the 2000s, many of the storylines that occurred in Brookie's last five or so years, are now similar to the storylines now aired on Hollyoaks, yet that show isn't being cancelled anytime soon, some of the storylines on HO are way more sensationalist than Brookie could ever hope to be and as for the helicopter crash, Emmerdale would do a similar stunt over a decade later, which incidentally was two decades after another air disaster storyline on the same soap which changed the UK soap landscape forever.

I'm glad Brookside didn't continue as it would have conflicted with EastEnders, just like The Bill. It was basically EastEnders and Coronation Street rolled into one.
