    Were you correct?

I've never liked My Way, but that's probably down to Sinatra.

Still, I'm ready for the new challenge this week. :dance1:

My biggest grievance with it is the line "I ate it up and spit it out". I can't get past it. Surely it should be "spat". :slap:

It's just occurred to me that it has a connection to Over The Rainbow as one of those songs you hear at funerals every now and then.

Thank you for chosing this, one of my all time favourite songs.

    1. The Philippine Mandrigal Singers (aka Madz)
This is nothing short of genius: a fabulous almost an a Capella version of the original French version.

    2. Claude Francois
    The almost original version.

    3. Nina Simone
I just love this version by Ms Simone.

    4. Pecombo
A completely daft but brilliant version of the song, sung by a Japanese group doing a dance version of the French original.

    5. Mary Roos
A stunning German version of My Way.

    https://youtu.be/BJTFwT7lBX4

    6. Herman Brood
An unique interpretation of My Way.

    https://youtu.be/Ej2S-ANeuww

    7. Gloria Lasso
A kind of Spanish salsa version of the song.

    https://youtu.be/S3KKxOmOE7c

    8. Julio Iglesias & Paul Anka
A mash up of My Way and its Spanish version A Mi Manera.

    https://youtu.be/-u4GN_B_kkc

    9. Los Piratas
A fantastic rock version of My Way

    https://youtu.be/9VGDaaf-S4Y

    10. Major Harris
A brilliant soul version of the song.

My second favourite version would have been Jay-Z's "I Did It My Way" but I couldn't find a version online. If you get a chance to hear it, you will not be disappointed.

It's awesome, isn't it? I have a studio recording of this on my phone but the live version in YouTube clip has a more emotional and slightly haunting quality to it which adds to it's resonance.

Yes - it feels like a very special moment. Sometimes live performances can be lighting in a bottle. I may have to seek out that studio version too. ;)

Which one? My Way? I think that's the idea.

The people who choose it for their funeral probably do so with tongue gently in cheek. It's a way to bring a smile those in attendance. Kind of like Monty Python's Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life, which is apparently another frequently chosen funeral song.

Yes, especially "My Way". If *everyone* has done it his/her way, it's not exactly exclusive anymore. And I find it a bit overtly dramatic, like "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien".
But I believe those funeral services have a list to choose from*, and when the deceased is not a real music lover then I guess the family members just pick something.
I know that at such times it's hard to think of anything.

*You can use your own CDs, but no vinyl, tape or files.
The last one I heard was "Best Years Of My Life" (while showing pictures of him and his family) and I thought it was beautiful.

Yes, initially I wasn't going to include it, but the version has me intrigued and grew on me through the process.

I hadn't taken into account the possibility that one of those songs were played at funerals of friends or loved ones of one of the posters in this thread.
It was not my intention to ridicule or upset anyone, but, just in case I did, I apologize for it.
