OMG! I have forgotten to include this one! But I don't think I should adjust my list, I'm very happy with all my choices.
I don't consider myself a vocals-buff, but what Sam Brown did with that song is simply amazing.

Actually I was surprised I hadn't nominated it myself, so I checked all my other years top tens (I've done all of the 70s and 80s) and it turned out I had it reserved for the 1988 top ten:lol:

    Yes you’re right Willie
I chose the song because it reached number 4 in 1989 and having just checked I see that it was released in 1988 when it only reached 42 in the charts. ‘Stop’ in the 1989 charts was in fact a re-release. I’m annoyed with myself because usually I'm more careful.

My apologies to all if I’ve done wrong and I hope I don’t get banned from future Top Tens

I always look up the dates of songs I'm voting for, and I included Stop! even though it was released in 1988 because I saw it was still in the charts in '89. So if you're in trouble we're going down together.

(I think we'll be fine though. ;) By my understanding we're meeting the criteria).

    Why ?

Sam Brown spent 12 weeks in the chart during 1989

Now if you're talking about a song that's been nominated and never spent one week in the chart during 1989 I will give you "Love Shack" by the B-52s.

That spent 13 weeks in the chart during 1990 between 3rd March and 26th May.

However it still qualifies because it spent 27 weeks in the US chart from November 1989.

    :D

Eh? Now I'm confused. Does the US chart not count?

I did look it up before nominating it and saw that it was released in June '89 and was included in some year-end charts.

Yes, the US charts counts, like other countries count.

    It's why I said this...

    Now i'm confused, which ones?

Thanks. But if the US chart counts and Love Shack was there from November 1989 I'm not clear why you said:

According to Wikipedia, Canada's RPM 100 and the US Billboard Hot 100.

I was referring to the confusion with Long lashes and how a song can be released in one year but not chart until the year after.

Ah - I thought you was meaning something you had seen on the UK charts.

I've seen "Love Shack" appear on 80s collection CDs and it's always bugged me because the song belongs on a 90s collection when released on something in the UK.

I don't do that, well...not anymore, but sometimes I just "can't" vote for a song that doesn't feel like this or that year, eventhough the rules are clear: different countries, different charts.
Snap!'s "Rhythm Is A Dancer" just screams 1992 (and it was a hit in 1992) so I was very surprised it became our favourite chart hit from 1993.

I'm very happy to see this marked as our favourite song. It has a very characteristic late-80s sound.
Congratulations, @jessie with your winning nomination!:10:
Not much difference this time, but that doesn't change the fact that most votes were given to @Toni's nominations.:bravo:
