"Music Stations Always Play The Same Song"

That's a great quote from a Madonna song that is SO true. I realized this when I turned on the radio and hurt the same Usher song twice within 30 minutes.

It's exactly why I never listen anymore. The same set of songs OVER AND OVER AGAIN! It's annoying and boring. Anywoo, radio is so over. You can burn your songs, there's Ipod's. It's really pointless to me now.

What do yall think?

I agree Chris .........but I think it has become a problem because the record companies have become too influential in the music business.

It is just a symptom of a dieing industry in my mind.

I also wonder if there are still as many musical groups out there as there always have been in the past........??

I think the one big problem are rappers.

First Rhytmic and Rap stations would play it, but Pop wouldn't which would lead to more varied airplay, but now Pop plays rap as well which means rappers on every station and clogging up the music charts which makes them think we want to hear that when it's not the case. They have 3 different genre's and all other types of music have 1 genre of radio station to play their songs so it's no way they an ever be as popular anymore.

Very rarely do pop/rock songs chart well.

Chris I reccomend sirius. pay radio. it is very inexpensive and it blows air radio away. get all the music you want in variety without commercials. it is the best.

if you can't afford it I suggest listening to stations that are classic rock and not top 40. top forty always plays the same ten songs over and over and have for the past twenty years.

They shouldn't go after the downloaders anyway. People who make copies of CD's and tapes are doing the same thing, "stealing music" the only difference is that they aren't using a computer. Why isn't anyone going after them?

The Difference about top 40 stations from about 6 years, 10years ago or 20 years is this.

A So-called top 40 station playing today's best NEW music. Is really playing today's Billboard top 40. HOwever, This top 40 is different now. The 40 used to be just top 40 stations. Now The billbord Hot 100, includes Urban, Rhytmic, Country, Rock, Pop. Plus the single is almost extinct.

For example an artist who isnt rap or r&b has a hard time hitting the top 40. A ballad like "My Boo" by Usher and Alicia Keys can technially get played on Urban, Rhythmic, Pop, Adult Urban, Adult Contempoary, and anywhere else.

So that song will have more points, because it can get more points.

However, a song like What You Waiting For? Gwen Stefani which just peaked on the charts at the bottom of the top 50. Will not get play on anything but Pop stations, maybe a altertaive station, and limited dance stations.

So song cant not reach the points its needs.

So what does this mean. Its never ending cycle of burnout songs. The higher points songs are getting play however, sometimes their are higher on the chart, and hardly get any play on the Pop Stations. Because the Urban & R&B stations have become so popular over the last ten years.

In reality, the only way to diffuse this problem is if Billboard changes its format. I suggest music downloads and counting Sirius Radio as points

Hear Hear! I swear if I hear that song again, i'm gonna stab my ears out! (just kidding!) The local radio stations seem to be obsessed with that song, same goes for that stinkeroo "Redneck Girls" on the local country stations. Basically now I just drive everywhere with the radio OFF, as there is not any good crap on the radio these days.
