I love the way GREG and Abby interact. I think at the end of Knots Landing, perhaps these two back together again, could hve been a spin off show. What do you think?????

If Greg and Abby did a spinoff when Abby originaly left the show, I think it could be a bigit. I'm sure it would have been much different that KL as well. But if they did it, KL would take a big dip, because not only would they lose Abby, they'd lose Greg.

If they did it after the show ended, that would be cool!

Maybe it could have been a sitcom ..*wacky announcer voice* -"Hes A Laywer and Shes a Prostitute! and their raising a monkey! on FOX's latest comedy hit-"Your Not The Boss of Me"-starring Donna Mills , William Devane and Coco the chimpanzee

I hate sitcoms(EXCEPT the good ones like Friends,Seinfield, Everybody Loves Raymond.), so do a lot of other people which may be why, the networks are losing millions of viewers going to HBO, to view shows like Sopranos,Sex n the City,6ft Under). If it aint broke don't fix it,..I would have love to see GREG & Abby kept in their exact same characters as on Knots, just a continuation. This serial-drama, would surround their lives, their business, their ups and downs. Maybe at the end of the Knots series it would have worked.

I'm a little less convinced. After all, a big part of why we were so interested in Abby's schemes was because we cared so deeply for the people she schemed against. In a new show, they would have introduced new rivals and/or victims, people we did not have an attachment to. We would be asked to instantly root for these people, since all these sorts of shows have to have a good-vs-evil component. Abby's schemes didn't really have the same impact when they were against people we didn't know (for instance: the Marcuses at Lotus Point), and seeing her run roughshod over strange new people just would not be the same. It simply would not have the same impact.

As for Greg, he treated even his closest "friends" in a hands-off way, keeping a safe distance. He had gotten past schemes by the end of the series, and was more amused by others' devious acts (esp. Claudia, Anne). The "distant" act was okay when there were others in the ensemble to interact with him, but when one of the LEADS sits around his ranch playing with his horses, it wouldn't work.
He would probably get a kick out of Abby for a while, but grow bored once there was nothing else to gain. Greg already had a huge fortune, so money-making schemes were not really necessary for him. Having him paired with Abby would have been an endless cycle of "I want your money/You aren't smart enough to outwit me" plots that would even bore me after a while. If both leads are cut in the "baddie" mode, and their new supporting characters were ineffectual, the show wouldn't have much of a chance.

I agree, Daniel. I had much the same thoughts when there was talk of a Dynasty Alexis spin-off. It's hard to see how a spin-off based around the "villains" could work.

I think a Spin Off would have worked if written well and new characters vying against, for and with, Abby,Greg were defined clearly. Knots was a SpinOff of DALLAS...and it worked. Use the Imagination. Maybe Abby and Greg could relocate to Palm Springs......eh

    thora,

there was talks of a younger generation of knots taking over some of the episdoes at the end of the 1988 season finale. they wanted to have michael, johnny, and paige lead the cast; however, i think the writers said how would they inter-twine their storylines back into knots landing when the show returned back in september of 1988.

    joe

kl: (paige about brian) if i see him again it will be too soon...(greg) him too? get thee to a nunnery.

(anne to paige about being with greg at his ranch in montana) well paige we were quite the couple since you dropped the ball...(paige) dropped the ball, what is this a football game...(anne) well i'm pregnant with greg's baby...(paige) mother you are too old...(anne) i've barely hit my stride...(paige) well what about his vascetomy...(anne) i don't know what he told you but this wasn't the immaculate conception.
