let's see, the cul-de-sac is Mount Olympia the domain of the "gods"

Abby could be the Aphrodite/Venus, the godess of love,
Karen could be Demeter, the godess of the earth
Gary could be Dionysus/Baccus, the god of alcohol
Greg could be Zeus/Jupiter, the head of the gods
Valene could be Athena, the goddess of war, she faced so many crisis in her life
Anne could be Hera, Zeus's wife, the jealous goddess
Olivia could be Artemis, the virgin goddess of hunting, though, she looses her virginity somewhere down the line
Ben could be Mercury, the messenger god, a reporter is similar to a messenger.
Mack could be Mars, the god of war, he went after illegal cartels, terrorists, pyschos ect....
Laura could be vesta, the goddess of fire,

Now I am changing Mack from Mars/Ares to Poseidon the god of the sea.

Peter would be more suited to be Mars/Ares, the lazy schemy god of the war who was always lusting after Venus.
