For the season 5 DVD (1981-1982) why is Cliff pictured in the Southfork Pool holding Sue Ellen when it is supposed to be Kristen? The photo of Cliff with Sue Ellen is an outtake.

I know they had both Linda Gray and Mary Crosby play the dead girl in the pool with Cliff because I guess either the writers weren't sure who it was going to be until next season, or they didn't want any secrets to get out. As for the picture on the DVD, obviously it was a whoops.

A lot of the pictures on the title page of the DVDs are misleading. There was one I think with Peter and Jenna with their arms around each other. One DVD had a picture of Kristin on it when she hadn't been introduced in those episodes yet.

Jessica getting the guy in the fish tank wasn't that far fetched to me. Not all women, believe it or not are weaklings, so you never know though it does seem like it would take multiple people. What drove me crazy was all the plane crashes. How many times did they use the so-so died in a plane crash or someone had an accident on a plane storyline. That kept being done over and over again.

I think there are a lot less years between JR and Bobby than there are between Hagman and Duffy. On the show, there is plenty of talk about them fishing and hunting together with "Daddy" Jock together as if they were more contemporaries.

I was a little unrealistic that there would be so many plane crashes as opposed to car accidents since in reality travel by air is much safer than by car. I believe the only car accidents were Sue Ellen/Mickey and then later Pam crashing into the tanker. However there were numerous plane crashes throughout the series.

I suppose it's possible Jessica could have hoisted the man into the fish tank, but not all that plausible as she was kinda frail and petite and the man was fairly large.

Didn't Lucy have an accident when she was stoned and Bobby & Ray came to get her home. In the blooper reel,Bobby and Ray turn Lucy upside down and shake her.
Also Jacks car blew up and killed Jamie (dream!).

The thing that bugged me about Haleyville is the two guys humiliated him and treated him like garbage, and when he got back to Dallas, he did nothing about it. NOTHING. It seems the old JR would have tried to get revenge or something- you knew an era had passed- also, when JR said he was going to do something about McKay when he found out what had been happening- and yet again, he did NOTHING. It was like it was another show.

Agreed. Somewhere along the way,JR lost that revenge factor that made him such a badass. In later seasons,he was getting beat by some of the most pathetic characters around.

Oh yeah forgot about Sue Ellen crashing her station wagon, Katherine running over Bobby, and Jack's car. However, I don't believe Lucy got into an accident. Bobby and Ray went to pick her up from the party. Bobby drove her car home with Lucy in the passenger seat.

Why didn't James tell Melinda to go take a hike? The whole setup of "let's not make her unhappy lest we spoil the deal" bit made ZERO sense here because wasn't it Duke trying wheel and deal the newest Ewing into the gambling deal. It's Duke that should be sending the kid off to a playdate or something.

Maybe it was just the whole episode, which also included the ridiculous "Wait for me, April, while I bang the bejesus out of PseudoPam" and the Stevens sisters F-minus level haggling with Inagaki. Was it the writing or the director (Ken Kercheval)? Not sure.

How about the fact that the Ewing Women (mainly Sue Ellen & Pam) could go to bed and when they would wake up,mostly every time they would have perfect hair and make-up.

The voting shares storyline was to me stupid that Jock would give Gary, Ray, and Lucy a say of who can run his company. Not only that but that JR would be trying to get Gary to give him his shares instead of calling Jock and wondering why he would do this or that JR would even take any of them seriously.

Actually Jock didn't give Lucy ANY voting shares - yet he gave shares to John Ross and put them in Miss Ellie's control. Gary had the voting shares and when JR was trying to get Gary to turn them over to him, Gary instead gave it to Lucy. What baffled my mind was that he gave JOHN ROSS, an infant, voting shares, but none to Lucy.

I think JR was able to use Southfork as collateral because of something Jock had written up giving JR control over everything and then he took it back (I can't remember now exactly) but still it made no sense ... Just like in the new season, it made no sense that Southfork was going to be lost to those Venezuelans because the whole transaction was fraudulent.

That was standard for most TV shows of the time, especially soaps. Nobody looked like they just woke up, everyone went to bed with full make up...really promoted horrible hygiene practices,

thats a good point about jr morganing southfork im not sure how that was able to be done unless ewing oil owned it and jr being basically the owner of ewing oil owned it also im not sure as for cliff good point also because bobby userd the drill not cliff but the 1 think i never got was after jr got shot him and sue ellen where laying there talking then the got a call say kristins had your baby jr then when bobby bought christopher back to southfork to confront jr and pam feel in love in with the baby jr found out and though he was the babys father and tried to blackmail bobby but kristen lost jrs baby then had christopher after if im not mistaken so if thats the case wouldnt jr have known the baby wasnt his be cause the child would have been almost 12 months older than his

Very interesting thread. There are several things that baffled me about Dallas, why in the world the writers choose to expose us to Jenna Wade and Rebecca knowing Cliff was her son why'd she wanna claim him again?

Seriously, I do think the thing concerning Wentworth Tool and Dye was that Herbert left his holdings to Rebecca not Katherine so she was free to do whatever she wanted with it. Had he wanted Katherine to own it someday, he should've put that in his will.
And it did bug me that Jock acted as if Lucy didn't matter at all when it came time to give voting shares. I thought him giving John Ross shares and some ridiculous amount of money was a slap in the face to Lucy.
I believe someone already stated that Southfork, though it was considered to belong to Jock & Ellie, it was listed under the holdings of Ewing Oil so JR as president could mortgage it without anyone knowing. I believe that changed after that Asian deal and Jock put it in his and Ellie's name and it was no longer listed as a Ewing Oil asset.
