I thought it was good too- mainly because it was surprising. Dallas had long stopped being on the cover of the Star magazine and rags to spoil the upcoming plots, so I didn't see it coming. And I liked April in a way. She wasn't a great character but compared to who was left on the show, she was slightly more watchable than some of the other new actors.

I was thinking at a time when Dallas was unwilling to kill off main characters, it was quite unexpected. The point was to give Bobby a reason to sell EO and change his life but still a brave move at a time when they wouldn't even kill of the long lost Pam.

Personally I was happy to see her die by that point as she had become such a poor excuse second rate Pam by that point (only without Pam's charisma & chemistry with Bobby)

I only liked April her first year, during that time she was a character with promise, she had fire in her aswell as a deep longing to be loved and have a friend. As soon as Victoria left and they forced her together with Bobby by default it was all downhill.

Felt nothing when she died at all which is sad but I am only being honest.

I loved April. Her journey from gold digger to reformed near-saint rang rather true to me. She grew up. She got everything she thought she wanted and then realized it all meant nothing without people to share her life with, so she changed. And it was believable. I mourned April. The terror she must have experienced during her kidnapping at a point in her life when she was probably the happiest was pretty shocking for Dallas, especially by that point in the series. S14 was the only season I can remember in detail from when it originally aired, and as a small child, April's death was very upsetting. Over twenty years later, when just recently re-watching, it was still upsetting. One of the cruelest tricks the producers ever pulled was to stick a preview of "Next on Dallas" with April running through the airport to Bobby at the end of that episode. That was just plain mean-spirited and unnecessary. No wonder S14 was the last.

I loved April too...or I grew to love her. Hated her at first. Grew to love her later when her love for Bobby transformed her and her outlook on life. She changed her ways. Bobby made her a better woman. I also thought she was the only other woman ever paired with Bobby (after Pam left) who had any chemistry with Duffy. She didn't have as much chemistry with him as Pam did, but she was a close second in my opinion. I was pissed when they killed her off. Poor Bobby deserved some happiness finally and I thought it was cruel to kill her off. But I understand the actress was pregnant and wanted to leave the show.
Yes, JR. The answer is yes. You were the love of my life!

Less than a year after Dallas ended in 1991,Sheree was starting filming "Walker Texas Ranger" with Chuck Norris. I did not like the character of April Stevens on Dallas, but Sheree's character on "Walker" was at least tolerable.

I liked April and thought she added a lot to the show though I would agree they changed her character perhaps too rapidly. I must be in the minority but I actually liked the final season of Dallas. They did some interesting things such as bring in Barbara Eden for a few episodes. It was definitely better than the season before it which in my opinion was the worst season of Dallas.

I really didn't care for the April character. Thought she was ok in the beginning, but not a good fit for Bobby. That said, I did think her death scene was moving and I was actually surprised they killed her character off. I wasn't expecting it.

I grew to like April and thought she was a good match for Bobby. I was very upset when they killed her off and still remember how shocked I was when I watched her death scene. Especially so because they had shown a preview of upcoming episodes with a scene of Bobby and April with their new baby daughter and Christopher.

Yes, exactly. Only the reverse of everything you said.

I agree - that was a cruel trick they played. I also just saw that episode for the first time and I keep hoping they are going to bring her back and say that it was all faked by Susan Lucci or something. But I had to know so I checked IMDB and found out she really is dead.

I disliked April a lot at first but I came to really like her and the story arc with her and Bobby. It seems like just when anything good is happening on Dallas the producers decide to sabotage it because they want to generate as much gloom and doom and angst as possible.

But they do seem to introduce a lot of very negative characters who end up changing later. Michelle was pure evil in the beginning, but they ended up humanizing her.

Why in hell (and how in hell) they put her in the opening credits if she was writter on right in the beginning? You know, it made me believe she would somehow be alive and appear again sooner or later. But then the show ended. It was SO lame. Why they didn't bothered to cut her out the opening credits when they had Steve Kanaly in season 12, Lesley Ann Down and Dack Rambo on those just for a couple of episodes...?

I had the feeling that they were making April and Michelle much like Sue Ellen and Kristen. I grew to like April and her growth as a person and saw saddened when she died. Was not crazy about the storyline though. The plot made no sense.

When Aprils sister was shot that was a really "good" scene, very well made... To me, that was better done than the death of April.

I was shocked when they killed her off as I thought she was a good character.

Yeah, but I think the "shock" was a good thing, how they built it up and then the shooting... It was very well made, I think.

April was the best new character that Dallas had in it's later years. I hated that they killed her off. They should have written her out like KL did with Joan Van Ark and then brought her back for the Dallas finale and let Bobby have some happiness for a change.
