3e is a digital channel and not really under the category of main channel as it can't be got through the analogue signal. However, with that now soon to be removed I suppose Ireland will have 6 channels including Setanta Sports not to mention all the local Cork Community, Dublin community etc.. channels.

Not to be a party pooper but the actual ratings for viewers who watched the entire debut episode on TV3 was 466,000. The figure of 842,500 refers to the number of people who tuned in for some part but not all of the show. Details of the breakdown in the link below. Still 466K is very good for Ireland (10% of the entire population!) and still TV3's all time record audience for a debut drama episode!
