In order for this show to work long-term, they might need to keep the old characters to a minimum. It would be yet another storyline if Pam came back...what happens to Ann? I assume that Bobby divorced Pam or she was declared legally dead. Maybe they need to throw that in and end this speculation about Pam.

At the point, the only character I would bring back is Gary...maybe...he's been gone so long. Ray might be better. I can't stand this Lucy showing up with Ray though...what are they? a couple? That's icky since she's his half-niece or whatever you would call her. Lucy is fine once in a while, like the scene with her and John Ross, but again, another storyline. It's not like the old series where you can have all these characters. TV has changed, the season is shorter and needs to be more compact.

    i don't hate you

but like i don't hate you when you said you want Donna or Katherine back, don't hate us when we (pamhystericsfans want the come back of the character who bring the real chemistry in the story : she's the character who build the heart of the story of Dallas and we think that she can transform this new show in bigger hit!!

If Pam is never to return, I would rather her be killed off that way it is an end to it.

I hate to play the age card here, but, Pam is too old to set off sparks with Bobby again. Her return could work in some storyline involving business, her brother, son, J.R., etc., but to create a love triangle with Bobby and Ann? Not gonna happen. Ann looks about 15 years younger than Victoria Principal. Bobby's head is not going to be turned away from his young, supportive wife in favor of old, bipolar Pam.

As long as VP is alive, Pam should stay alive. I would shed tears at a 75 year old Pam reuniting with 75 old Bobby. Hope is always alive.

I agree, as long as the actors of these main characters are alive I don't see the character being dead unless they have been killed on screen (and weren't brought back by a dream).

Like another poster said, yes Ann is younger, but Pam was always Bobby's other half on the show. Once she was gone the character of Bobby was never the same IMO.

Most "Pam fans" have said that Pam doesn't have to come back but her storyline should be resolved. If they're going to kill her off, then do it. If she's already dead, then say it. It's simple.

I agree with you. I may not be the biggest Pam fan in the world (don't get me wrong, I enjoy her and Bobby very much) but the way they are just dangling the ghost of Pam/VP in front of us is offputting. At the beginning of the season I was ready to say that Pam was not needed, but it became apparant that I was wrong. Some closure would be appreciated. And the overhyped finale had even me glued to the edge of my seat, hoping upon some miracle that Pam was the exciting cliffhanger that was promised us. But that was apparently not to be.

A lot of the character's behaviors could be better explained with the resolution to Pam. Did Cliff inform Bobby of her demise, leading to changes in both of their personalities? Or had he turned into such a bastard at that point he couldn't have bothered to tell Bobby, leading to feelings of guilt and self hatred? What kind of wedding did Bobby have- was Christopher supportive? I read in one post that suggested Christopher might have mommy issues. If his mother had completely abandoned him, that would help give some much needed sympathy for the character. There are too many holes in the storyline that could be easily resolved with the conclusion of the Pam storyline, one way or the other.

I do think we need closure to the Pam story. Did she die? No, we have no confirmation of that. Where is she? Nobody knows. She's been mentioned several times in season one, but only that she disappeared one day and that they miss her. It could be that her fate was "found out" years ago, somewhere in the interim between the original series and the new series. BUT they would have mentioned it by now. They would have filled us in. My feeling is that they are still trying to get VP to come back to the show, and that's why they are so vague and up-in-the-air about her fate. I find it hard to believe that Christopher never tried to locate her. She was his mother after all. But he may be too bitter about her walking out on him.
Yes, JR. The answer is yes. You were the love of my life!

The big thing is the resolution of the storyline. As long as there is no finale to Pam then people will still speculate on whether she will ever come back or not. This extends to all characters from the original series coming back. As long as there is a storyline to put them in and we the viewers can get resolution, that's all that matters.

For Pamela, I would be fine if they dedicated an episode to her death. My Idea would be that Pam could die off screen and Bobby gets a telephone call saying that his wife is dead. We could learn that Pamela never actually filed the divorce papers and Bobby was still married to her all these years. They could have a memorial service for Pamela and the Ewings/Barnes family would have to cope with the decisions Pam made in her will.

To have old characters come back for a few episodes would continue to tie in the original fans while still appealing to the new fans. Perhaps we could see Donna return as Sue Ellen's campaign manager. This may bring Margaret Krebbs to Dallas as well, and perhaps Ray and Donna could reunite on screen. After Donna's storyline is over Margaret could decide to stay on at Southfork.

If that's true, then I think they need to give her a deadline so they can resolve the storyline whether she comes back or not.

Re Christopher being too bitter to look, maybe, but if she's dead then he would inherit her money, and she was quite wealthy, so that in itself is a storyline for him.

I think the thing is that the writers don't get is that as Pam fans we don't care if she's dead. At least it would be a resolution, and that's all we are asking for.

I agree - keep VP away from Dallas and kill off Pam once and for all (or at least verify that she passed some time ago). Now, I like the idea of Donna coming back. They could have Sen. Dowling pass and Donna returns to Texas, where she was born, raised and lived most of her life. Perhaps that brings Margaret to Texas as well and all coincides with Ray's separation from Jenna. Ray could come back to Dallas too and help Bobby run the ranch (his moving to Europe was never even remotely believable). Eventually, there is a re-marriage, but it's not Bobby and Pam, but Ray and Donna. Plus, their child is a Ewing - at least biologically, which puts her one up on Christopher. Margaret bould become Lucy's protege, much to Ray and Donna's chagrin.

I disagree. The show never recovered from the departure and poorly written exit. Clearly the producers hoped to bring her back but leaving that door open ended up being one of the most frustrating plot lines. She was a beloved character and one of the most popular performers of the series era. I would love to see her return and see what she is up to.

We have no idea what has taken place over the last twenty years. She and Christopher could have a relationship and she has kept her distance from Dallas out of respect for Bobby and Ann. Plus why would she want JR having any idea where she is or have any contact? There is no reason she has to reappear for the first time out of the blue.

Yes, indeedy...a return of Donna and Ray would be a ratings boom for Dallas 2.0.
