There was an actor that was supposed to have been cast as Eric Barnes. I don't know if it was a fake story of not, but it seemed real at the time.

Ok I have news: "Thomas Michael Lane" doesn't exist ... the photo is fake (it's actually someone else on Facebook who hadn't even know his pics were used for this scam) ... obviously the producers never intended the figure of "Eric Barnes" ... so much for us believing every rumour that's out there

Yes it was a set-up by that guy on Twitter. He fooled everyone as he seemed so genuine. What a weird thing to do.

He even said he had to go off from Twitter while his agent reinvented his name. The really odd thing though is that he was on Twitter using that pic as himself for a LONG time before he claimed he was Eric. He was even asked if that was him and he said yes and new shots would be coming. He even had was looked like friends and followers.

I was a little gutted as he seemed so nice. God I hate the internet sometimes.

Maybe everyone was just yearning for news as it all happened when filming started.

They should now cast this guy

I don't know why he is so upset. I would be flattered.

thank u Ann .. but Im afraid once again we have to blame ourselves for believing every rumour that's out there ... it was the same with "Audrey Landers having been on some QVC show in the UK confirming she would show up in the last episode" ... the whole story was a lie ... why do ppl ("Dallas" FANS??) do something like that?? It actually only hurts the characters ...

But this was kind of different as he really went out of his way to convince everyone he was the real deal. I think the very fact he had a history on Twitter and used that pic. He just seemed unusually genuine. Normally you can spot these frauds a mile off. The name suddenly appears etc etc. This guy added up on all counts.

We had just had news Ken was back, this guy had a profile about being a model. He even had what appeared to be genuine Twitter friends. He was not the normal tweet troll. It's just all really odd. He went to a great deal of trouble. He even pm'd saying he something along the lines that TNT were not happy with him revealing the news but his new site and photos would be up under the guidance his agent and TNT.

Hindsight is a great thing. Even someone high up and in the know appeared to confirm there was a Thomas Lane on the show.

I'm going to guess that the storyline got changed and/or shelved....if he was legit. How many offspring can come out of the woodwork in the cliffhanger? We already had Ann's daughter bumped to next season.

How can he be legit if he was using a photo of some other dude?

It is so funny that everybody was going bonkers re: Eric Barnes and now it's a hoax, the man deserves an award for that stunt. These pictures were too 'nippyboi' to be true.

no storylines were changed, and there was NEVER a "Thomas Lane" on the show because this guy does not exist - at least not someone who looks like the model on the photos.

Exactly. No wonder we could find no info on him, nor on the Model One website he had on his profile. But Miss Lush is right. It's kind of funny really.

Maybe we should all go on Twitter and claim to be different variations of the Barnes family. I will be Edwina Barnes

Maybe I can be Eric Barnes. I'm a little old for it, unless Eric's the aborted child Cliff's girlfriend died with and it turns out JR took the fetus and raised it in Abilene for 40 years or so.
