I know Ray is an original cast member, but I truly feel his story is told and it makes sense for his character to just stay away at this point. I'd give Lucy a more important role, include Gary and Val here and there (these are interesting character with spark who could make an impression in a short amount of time). I'd also say that Afton is an absolute must. Get her married off to Cliff and she could be a real power. SHe has connections to much of the cast. If they plan on making the Barnes a force, you HAVE to introduce Katherine at some point. I would say as a confidant of Rebecca. Perhaps Rebecca and Cliff will have a falling out and she foolishly goes to Rebecca. SHe could be the new Jessica.

Too many old people? Like in Neighbours, you mean? Don't know about these days, but when I watched it there were a lot of oldies in it. Helen, Jim, Beverly, Hilary, Madge, Harold, Lou, Max, Maria, Tom, Dorothy...
I belonged to that 'young audience' once, but I loved the mixture of Scott and Charlene and their parents. It IS Dallas, you know, not Beverly Hills, 90210. And Dallas is all about family relations and within a family you need children, parents and yes... even grandparents!
By the way, I love The Golden Girls too!

One thing that would be kind of cool is if they would occasionally do self-contained episodes to spotlight some of the Ewings that aren't part of the main story. Say, for example, Sen. Dowling dies in a car accident. You could have Bobby and Christopher go to DC to see Donna and Margaret, and most likely Ray would come by too to offer Donna his support, maybe bringing Lucas along. This would actually provide a story for these actors, moreso than just a walk-on role at a barbecue, even if it is just for an episode or so, and could also advance the main story. Maybe Christopher is finally feeling secure about his place as a Ewing, but then sees some interaction between Bobby and Lucas and it brings those doubts back. Or maybe Lucas finds out he's Bobby's son then and it introduces him to the show. It'd be a nice nod to those who wonder what happened to these people.

Some members would like it if Punk, Mavis, Marilee, Jeremy Wendell, even Holly Harwoord would be back. (Why, just because the actors are still alive?) Personally, I don't care about these characters, because they are not part of the Ewing family. To me, Dallas is about family and the struggling of each family member. I think that's what makes it exciting, because - however you feel about your father(-in-law), mother(-in-law), sister(-in-law) or brother(-in-law) - they are there, there is a bond, a bloodline and you just have to deal with them. It is very difficult to break with your family (although it does occur sometimes), because there's always that bond.
And to put those family members in a certain situation and then see how they each deal with that in their own way, THAT'S interesting to see. Wanting to leave, wanting to get out, but not being able to, because of that family bond. I think that's when most people can identify themselves with the characters. It doesn't always have to be a difficult plot with murder or enemies who try to shoot someone. Intrigues can be very simple!
A business partner (Jeremy, Marilee), your parents friends (Punk and Mavis) or a woman who made some wrong deals with a family member (Holly) in the past, don't mean anything to me. Sorry!!
It's a different story when it'd turn out that Holly had J.R.'s baby. Then she would be part of the blood line. Then again, another child for J.R.? Boring...

Returns should be made by characters of the Ewing family - this show is about family.
So there would be:
- Gary & Val,
- more scenes with Lucy
- and the offspring Lucas and Margret (maybe not both in one season but bringing Ray and Margret with them for a few eps)
And for the Barnes family
- Afton
- Pam (hopeless, but still)
I think they did a god job with their choice of business rivals this season, I liked these Venezuelan guys.
No need imo for Carter, Wendell, Vaughn Leeland, Marilee Stone...done that, been there...
the only execption I would love would be the return of the Farlow refineries maybe with Dustgy and some offspring of him...
But there should be more references to the past to improve that epic feeling.
Sheriff Washburn, Harry McSween, Sly, Ray's ranchhouse...
I loved JR calling Ann "wife nr.3" - it gives more depth to this epic show...give him more lines like that!

I always liked the Donna character, she grounded the show in some ways, like Bel Geddes did. I would love to see her back. I loved Afton and didn't want her to go in the first place, this could be a big opportunity for her and her character. I'm a big fan of Lucy, I would love to see more of her. She always did great when they gave her good material to work with, and she could do so again. Her scenes involving Mickey are some of the best of the entire show. I always liked the Val/JR dynamic. They hated each other much like Pam/JR did in some ways, that would be good to focus on again.

I don't think Ray's story is over. Here's my take:
Ray and Jenna (w/Lucas and Charlie) lived in Europe until sometime in the early 2000's, after which Jenna died from breast cancer (lets face it, no big loss here as Priscilla Presley and her bad plastic surgery face are not coming back to the show). Charlie is now married with a family off somewhere living her life - no need to bring her or Jenna back at this point.
Ray moved back to Texas after Jenna died (w/Lucas in tow), but not to Dallas. He bought a ranch of his own in Houston (that gives the show the flexibility to bring Ray back for special occasions, but doesn't have to include him in the day to day stories). Lucas, who is now in his mid 20's, lives with Ray and helps him take care of his ranch. He is a chip off his Dad's block (both Bobby's and Ray's) with his love of ranching.
Donna is now also a widow, but still active in Washington politics behind the scenes. Her and Ray's daughter Margaret, in her mid 20's, is a political up and comer whose passion for politics match's her mothers. Newly elected Govenor Sue-Ellen Ewing wants Donna's insight and expertese for her administration (as well as someone she can trust) and asks her to move to Dallas for a few years to work with her as part of her team. Donna welcomes the change of scenery and decides to accept her offer as long as she can bring Margaret along to work with them as well. Donna wants Margaret to get experience working with powerful women. When Sue-Ellen tells Bobby about it, he immediately calls Donna and arranges a welcome home dinner. Since her move back is only temporary and Donna isn't looking for a permanent residence, Bobby invites Donna and Margaret to stay at Southfork for old times sake (that gives us another two family members living under the roof at Southfork).
Ray, looking to spend some quality time with Margaret, arranges a visit to Dallas with Lucas. During that time, Ray and Donna get together to reminise about old times, the different paths that life took them, and where they both ended up now. They find great solace with each other amid the common feelings they share of missing their now deceased spouces and the trust and love they still feel for each other from their own years of being married. A spark develops again for them and they eventually reunite. Meanwhile, Ray and Lucas help Bobby out with the ranch on Southfork and Bobby eventually hires Lucas as the new ranch foreman...a position previously held by Ray. All kinds of story-lines can develope from there for Lucas and Margaret to be a part of the younger generation cast.

Outside of Ray and Donna, and occasional visits from Lucy, I don't think Gary and Val should come back. Joan Van Ark just doesn't look the same anymore and the Knots relationship with Dallas was broken after the dream season, so without a plausible way to resolve it, I think they should just ignore the Knots connection.
They definitely have opportuinity to bring back Pam, Katherine, and Afton though.

The problem is with shorter seasons and so many commercials, it is hard to do much more than the token cameo appearance if you bring in too many of the old vets. Since we have already seen Ray and Lucy, then I would start with them which means you could justify bringing in Gary and Val to see Lucy, and Gary could also play some kind of role with Bobby and J.R. As far as Lucas goes, that could probably be easily done too because we have seen Ray and something could be done with that. I am not sure if there is a need for Jenna to return because it is way too early for any kind of Jenna returns and still has a thing for Bobby storyline. Afton makes logicial sense as well. If nothing else, it would be nice to hear a mention of Lucas and let's not forget J.R. has two other children, James and a child with Callie. I like the idea of bringing Sly in to work at Ewing Energies. She wouldn't take up much screen time yet older fans would enjoy her presence at the company.

I'm giving the new series a go. Glad Lucy is back even if its for a few episodes. I hope for season 2 Gary, Valene, Afton, Pam and Punk will make appearances but the latter two will probabley never happen.

I would love to see Lucy back again in season two with a bigger storyarc to follow. I want to know what her life is like now. Is she married?
Has she had kids? What is she working with?
I would also love to see Afton. I think the cliffhanger left a lot of questions and ways to include her next season. I would like to know what is her relationship with Rebecca?
What is her relationship with Cliff?
Of course I'd love to see Pam back. She and Christopher could have a great storyline. It would bring a lot of fans some closure.
I would also love to see Margaret Krebbs show up and be involved with Sue Ellen's campaign somehow.
Donna & Ray would also be nice to see...and Lucas. But I think I would save the Lucas storyline for season three...
I think Ray got a too little cameo on season one. I want to know more about his life today. Is he still married to Jenna? Where does he live?
That's my wishlist for season two...
