Which is why I avoid official spoilers and pay absolutely no attention to fan-based rumors. All of the rumor-mongering on this site about Pam or Afton returning made me sure it wouldn't happen.

80s-style cliffhangers are so old fashioned; I really had no expectation for one. I can't think of a single show that uses them. And really, how many of them were even that good? Worse, they lead to a game of one-upmanship where each cliffhanger has to exceed the previous, leading to downright silliness.

I like the modern approach of ending a season: wrap up (more or less) concurrent story lines and leave teasers for the next year. I don't think "Dallas" did a spectacular job on that front, but I was reasonably satisfied.

But then the producers also fooled us. So where was this mysterious Eric Barnes? Where was this "jaw-dropping cliffhanger" Patrick Duffy mentioned? This "cliffhanger" was as big as "Who shot J.R.?" (as Ken Kercheval said)? Where was that explosive scene on the roof of the Ewing building (as Kerveval indicated)? Why making a mystery out of the man stepping down from the plane when we all knew it would be Cliff, especially because he was credited in the opening? Things like this only works when they lead to someone showing up we WERENT expecting, writers!

The fact that Rebecca is Cliff's daughter made be yawn - it was clear to every fan from the beginning. It's actually an offense to everyone who has seen "J.R. Returns". Yes, Cliff has a daughter, her name is (Pamela) Rebecca), she's grown up now. If "J.R. Returns" counts or not - you cannot just repeat the same story line. So I assume next season we learn that Ray is actually Gary's, J.R.'s and Bobby's half brother or what? YAWN!!!

Sorry Cynthia, this was a total disappointment and not creative at all. It's hard to believe that a professional writer after one season and ten episodes has nothing else to come up with than making Rebecca Cliff's daughter.

I also expected more than just ONE cliffhanger (which wasnt even a cliffhanger).

And also: stop making J.R. a loser! If J.R. is a loser, we dont need this character.

And one last thing: how many more times is Elena going to switch between John Ross and Christopher? That storyline was boring after episode 2 already, and it doesnt get any more interesting by having her switching back and forth almost every episode. Let them all have a 3some and move on!
    Amen.

At least they quit saying "birthright" in every other scene.

I've enjoyed the season, as short as it was, and look forward to future seasons. As far as the ending of this season--we were told to ignore the reunion movies and then are suppose to be surprised at the end when something that was told to us during the reunion movies is the big surprise. It like being told friends are having a surprise birthday party for you - so act surprised. Maybe Rebecca being Cliff's daughter was a surprise to folks who aren't real familiar with all the old Dallas shows and movies, but I'd be willing to bet that over half the audience that turned in for Season 1, are old Dallas veterans. We knew it was our birthday and it's hard to act surprised.

    Default Christopher and Rebecca

So I am confused. Christopher is Pamela Barnes Ewing's son and Rebecca is her brother Cliff's daughter. Doesn't that mean that Christoper and Rebecca are cousins. Promoting incessed. Will the twins be deformed?

    I don't foresee any problems.

Read a few other threads on the subject and you will likely feel the same.

    Thankfully!

And if Christopher would stop saying "father" every time he speaks--say Dad, Daddy, the guy who raised me, anything else--that would help also.

Christopher is adopted. He is the son of Kristin Shepard (Sue Ellen's sister) and Jeff Faraday (now dead.)

    Default cliff hanger

just to add something to the cliffhanger, cliff is rebecca's dad and cliff has deep hatred towards the ewings even after a so called truce done by miss ellie. could it be that cliff has found out that his daughter is actually the daughter of jr and is using her to destroy her own real family. if this comes to be true, then there is a possibility that john ross and rebecca team up and go after christopher and elena and cliff for using blood agains blood, ewings stand together. also the next generation of ewings(twins) are ewing blood, this would make things very interesting, christopher may dump elena to make the ewing clan stronger, since he is not ewing blood but his children are now.

how would rebecca be J.R.'s daughter? J.R. and Afton called it quits long before Afton and CLiff got together. not a possibility.

I must admit he is a young actor I was unfamiliar with before Dallas started. I didn't know him, Brenda Strong, Julie Gonzalo, Jordana Brewster or Jesse Metcalfe. I know Metcalfe appeared in Desperate Housewives but since I never watched that show was unfamiliar with his work. I've watched all 5 newbies mingle with the old guard and been impressed at different stages with them all. Metcalfe I thought was extremely weak until the scene where he discovered he was going to be a father and suddenly, I realised he could act. Brenda Strong also upped her game in the last 2/3 episodes while Brewster has been decent throughout. However Josh Henderson has been the star of the show without question.

Henderson has been consistently strong from the start and just getting better and better and better with each passing week. I was so blown away with his performance in the finale that I tweeted him this morning immediately after with my congratulations. During the initial few episodes, he and Larry were an amazing double act and I'm delighted he has returned to the "dark side" in the finale because it should mean this terrific duo get to play together next season. However despite Hagman's health issues and subsequent minimal appearances from halfway through the 10 week run, Henderson has just kept on going - stepping up to the podium and claiming the show as his own. Just like Donna Mills on Knots Landing, he is the bad guy you just want to cheer on. I'm so enthused with this guy's acting abilities that I really want to now check out his previous projects. He is one of the few actors in the entire world who can act with his eyes. From that very first scene with he and Hagman in the home and the look of fear in his eyes when JR awoke from his coma to his final scenes where he cried genuine tears over the loss of his love Elena. He always looked engaged with his dialogue and engaged with his acting partner and in my eyes must surely stand right up there with Hagman, Bel Geddes and the wonderful Susan Howard as one of the all time Dallas greats. If God forbid anything were to ever happen Hagman, I'm quite confident this young actor could carry the show on his own...
    YES YES YES!
I am so happy that Josh Henderson got the part and I too believe he could carry the show if Larry had to leave the series due to health problems. (I never say the d word, I always say due to health problems)

I already miss John Ross and I think I will re-watch the entire season so that I can see him again.

And then...my friend Monika and I are plannig to re-watch the Peeeeter season of the original show so that we can have a few good laughs.

I wholeheartedly agree with (almost) everything you say Knots Man.
The only thing I disagree about is: It doesn't bother me that we did not get a cliffhanger. I am glad we didn't get one. I could not bear the wait for so many months to see what happens next. Like if Sue Ellen had gotten shot or something else would have happened to one of the core characters.
It took me a few mintues to realize that we did not get a cliffhanger and once I took notice I just laughed and laughed and laughed. Patrick Duffy, I will never believe you again!

Default Putting in my two cents about the finale....

I just noticed this thread and thought I should voice my views.

I was only happy with the loving scenes between Christopher and Rebecca Ewing. I love them together! I am not thrilled that Cynthina Cidre destroyed two couples that are hits with viewers in one single episode. Additionally, she turned Elena into a slut in one episode by having bed cousins in one episode. Bed hopping from one cousin to another is not cool and I don't care that is just a soap.

The pairings should stay as they are and she need to create drama and angst with those couples as they are and stuff around them. I refuse to watch Christopher with Elena!

Cynthia Cidre should fix this soon and leave well enough alone.

It's fun watch but I can't imagine it being as much fun knowing everything So I hope you didn't stumble across the ending.

I should rephrase that. most of us who followed Dallas and knew Cliff had a daughter with a middle name were not surprised.

Default Why did they photoshop the Dallas skyline?

I noticed that in the very last still of episode 10, the Ewing Oil building (Renaissance Tower) and the building with the green lights (Bank of America Tower - the later Ewing Oil) are way too far apart ... they are much closer together ... you can actually see the reflections of the green building in the other one at night ... anyone know why they might have done that ??
