Which over the top scenes stand out in your mind as favorites?
Personally, my favorite is the police station confrontation scene between Lilimae and Abby in the season 4 episode "The Burden of Proof". When I first saw this it was like everything around me stopped, I was so locked in as I had never seen such anger and shouting on any of the big nighttime soaps period. Julie Harris gave a standout performance in that scene and really pushed Abby against the wall.
Lilimae running over Chip.
The slow-mo climax goes on so long, with Diana and Karen desperately trying to outdo each other in the 'I can't believe it' stunned reaction look.
When I saw the CBS Early Show "Time Capsule" special with the Pointer Sisters along with JVA, Michele Lee, and Kevin Dobson, I thought they were spot on with the year they picked for them, 1983. I think its a general consensus that 1983 was Knots most remembered and most over the top year in its entire run.
I was constantly proud of how Julie Harris could take some of the most over-the-top situations and sell them. I would just be in awe, and forget that what just happened was soap-y to the extreme. Plow down Chip Roberts? Wow. Shout Joshua off a roof? Wow to infinity.
It wasn't one particular scene, but the sequences of Karen's escape from Phil's burning farmhouse were OTT soap-y goodness, but unlike Harris, I think Lee wanted us to see her doing things in hyper-dramatic form. She conveyed the whole feeling of "Yes, this is beyond my comfort zone in playing Karen, but darn it I'm going to do my best Lifetime Movie Woman In Jeopardy Best". Of all the parts of that sequence, I think the most memorable was when it dawned on Karen that the house was on fire, but the whole thing was fun for me.

As much as so many fans love to hate on season 8, I thought the execution of the kidnapping episodes were very exciting to watch. Also, I noticed that on one of the episodes, I believe its "Slow Burn" was directed by David Jacobs himself
Laura trashing the kitchen at Daniel could have descended into camp in the hands of a lesser actress. As it was, you felt Laura deserved that release, given the crap she'd put up with over the years from Richard. My only complaint was that she didn't just torch the place!
Another favorite of mine is when Valene angrily bursts into Jill's office starting with the phrase "You stay away from my children...." That whole season had been slowly building up to Val getting all the pieces put together about Jill and with that moment it truly climaxed. Watching Val put Jill up against a wall with a pair of scissors was just great tv.

I think David Jacobs both wrote and directed One Kind Of Justice, the episode that Julia's Gun referred to.
