EastEnders, 19 February 2015. 30th anniversary episode fanfic.

Right EastEnders is just 2 and a half years away from its Big Three 0 which will arrive in February 2015 and I reckon almost 5000 episodes will have been made by then. Here is my own fanfic idea for the 30th anniversary episode.

Alfie and Kat now own the Vic after buying it off Phil, The Masoods now run Bridge Street Cafe in partnership with Ian and Jay Brown has just married Abi Branning. In the episode Fatboy gets on the wrong side of Derek Branning and as the show is set in the future Whitney, Tyler, Afia and Tamwar have all gone and the new family the Howlett's live at George Street. We see the return of a past character and what is the mystery 70 year old man doing standing outside No 23 Albert Square at night at the start of the ep and why does he later visit the grave of a long deceased Albert Square resident?

THE OPENING CREDITS ROLL, DUFF, DUFF.

EXT, NIGHT TIME, OUTSIDE NO 23 ALBERT SQUARE, WALFORD, LONDON E20.

A man is stood looking at No 23 Albert Square. He is about 70 and is tall and slim. Derek Branning is walking out of the car lot portakabin and sees the man. He walks up to him.

DEREK Evening sir.
The man does not answer.
DEREK It is good manners to answer when someone asks how you are.
MAN I am stood looking that's all.
DEREK I just wondered why you are stood outside the house of a good neighbour of mine?
MAN Who is that
DEREK Patrick Trueman. Jog on hey.
MAN I wasn't going to try and raid the joint.
DEREK Nah but I might raid your facial features if you dont jog on.

The man walks off into the night across towards the B&B. Derek stands as the man walks right towards Victoria Road. Derek walks off towards his house.

INT, ARGHEE BHAJI, GEORGE STREET, EVENING.

Zainab Masood is serving a customer. Masood and Ajay are stood watching.

ZAINAB dont just stand are stare, help out man.
AJAY You seem fine yourself Zee.
MASOOD We do run the cafe now with Ian as well so we are more equipped with that.
ZAINAB It may have slipped your mind but Tamwar has gone now.
MASOOD Come on Ajay lets give her a hand.
AJAY If you say so brother.
Ian Beale walks into the restaurant and walks up to Masood.
MASOOD Alright Ian how are things?
IAN We are now partners at Bridge Street caff now aren't we?
MASOOD Since last month yes.
IAN So since when did partners spend most of their time running their other establishment?
MASOOD We have been busy since Tamwar went?
IAN You know the score, take on a waiter, its easy. Gives someone a job.
AJAY Yes we did gather that Ian.
IAN Mr Beale to you in the cafe, Vic or here OK. Masood the rules are simple, help out in the cafe or I shall happily buy you out of it.
Ian walks off.
ZAINAB That flea in your ear Masood has gone to your brain.

INT, QUEEN VIC, MORNING.

Alfie is getting crates of drinks ready to put in the fridge while Kat and Jean are wiping down the tables ready for opening. There is a knock at the main entrance doors.

ALFIE (Calls) We aint open yet mate.
DEREK (Calls though door) Its me Derek.
ALFIE hang on.
KAT Wonder what he wants?
Alfie answers the door
DEREK Alright Alfie my son? Fancy earning a few more bob today?
ALFIE What is it?
DEREK I need you to deliver something to Walthamstow today. Fifty quid.
ALFIE What is it?
DEREK A consignment of new plasma TV's.
ALFIE Are they dodgy?
DEREK Oh Alfie get that knife out of my heart. Course not. I'll come back at lunchtime. Good morning.
Derek walks off.
KAT What did he want?
ALFIE To do a delivery for him.
JEAN Is the stuff legal?
ALFIE Dunno love.
KAT Tell him to do one if it is illegal.
ALFIE It is a batch of TV's.
KAT Probably dodgy. This is Derek Branning we are talking about.
ALFIE Dont worry Kat love. It is all kushty.

INT, HOWLETT'S HOUSE, GEORGE STREET.

Tommy Howlett is getting ready for work. Katie is sat eating toast. Georgia comes down.

GEORGIA Where is mum?
TOMMY Gone to work love like she does every weekday.
KATIE Dumb question to ask Georgia.
GEORGIA Shut it Katie.
TOMMY Pack it in you two.
KATIE Dad can I see Fatboy this evening?
TOMMY Nah he is too old for you luv like I said.
KATIE He is only 25.
TOMMY And you are 17.
GEORGIA What he sees in you I dunno?
TOMMY For the last time you two pack it in. Right I am off to work, gotta earn a few quid hey.
KATIE Yeah must be good sitting in an office all day.
TOMMY You two will probably get an office job soon. See you later.
Tommy exits.
KATIE Dunno what to tell Fatboy that I am seeing Keiran.
GEORGIA Sort it out yourself.
KATIE Oh thanks big sister, thanks a bunch.
GEORGIA Just tell him, all you have to do.
Katie gets a message on her smartphone. She reads it. It is from Fatboy. Katie sighs in confusion.

EXT, OUTSIDE NO 23 ALBERT SQUARE.

The 70 year old man seen last night by Derek is stood looking at No 23 again. Derek, stood nearby outside the Vic looking at his mobile looks up and sees him. He slowly walks over.

DEREK Jog on sir. I told you last night. Unless you want a bruised lip.
MAN I aint gonna do anything. I am stood here looking if it is any of your business.
DEREK it is mine. Me and Phil Mitchell may have something to say about people like you.
MAN OK let me tell you, a relative of mine died here years ago.
The man walks off towards the B&B. Derek gives a look to tell the man is no danger. He sees Jack running towards one of the cars at the car lot
DEREK Oi bruv.
JACK Cant stop now bruvver, gotta urgent meeting with Manor Cars in Leyton.
DEREK Why you talking one of the cars on display then?
JACK Because mine has broke down silly. And it may help us land the car deal.
Jack gets in the car and drives off.

In this part a big clue is revealed as to the dead man who was said to have died years ago in Albert Square?. Can you guess who it is?

EXT, WALFORD CEMETERY.

The 70 year old man is stood at a grave. We only see the back of the headstone. He has some flowers in his hands. He puts them on the grave.

MAN Rest in peace Uncle. Many years too late but I shall make whoever took your life away pay for it big time. You were a cantankerous old man but never deserved to die.

EXT, ARCHES GARAGE.

Phil and Jay are fixing a car. Sharon walks in.

SHARON nice to see 2 grease monkeys working hard.
PHIL Alright Sharon? What brings you here?
SHARON Phil I came back to Walford just over 2 years ago and I made it clear then I am not after any big relationship.
PHIL Jay can you go and get some coffees from the cafe mate?
JAY Sure, gotta leave 2 lovebirds to sort out their tiff.
PHIL Oi dont push your luck matey (grins).
Jay exits.
SHARON Phil we go back a long way.
PHIL I even slept with you behind Grants back once.
SHARON Over 20 years ago yeah. I am still getting over Dennis.
PHIL Bloody hell Sharon.
SHARON Phil I am with Derek Branning now. Get used to it.
PHIL He is scum.
SHARON Coming from a man who was an alkie, woman beater, thief, arsonist....
PHIL (cuts in angrily) Oi, oi dont push it Sharon alright.
SHARON Yeah hit a woman Phil, just Like Grant did a few times.
PHIL Sharon i am sorry.
SHARON Why not try and make it up with Shirley? Do you know where she is living now?
PHIL Sorry no. Look I have work to do Sharon if you aint come here for anything else.
SHARON See you Phil, probably later in The Vic.

Sharon walks off. In anger Phil kicks the side of the car, breaking the car alarm light.

EXT, BRIDGE STREET.

The mystery 70 year old is walking down Bridge Street smoking a cigar. He sees Derek Branning nearby.

DEREK Aint gonna burgle anywhere are you?
MAN Listen pitbull I have had enough of your bully boy talk. I was in the Falklands and Bloody Sunday, I can ahve you for breakfast.
DEREK (backing down) Alright mate.
MAN Now you jog on hey?
DEREK Alright sir, alright.

EastEnders is still in many ways as good and as raw as it was in 1985.

EXT, SQUARE GARDENS.

The 70 year old sits down on Arthur's bench. Derek has an apologetic look on his face and sits by him.

DEREK Sorry sir, you know what it is like round here.
MAN Not as rough as the old days. All seems gentrified.
DEREK What is you connection with here?
MAN See No 23 over there where your mate lives?
DEREK Patrick yes?
MAN My uncle lived there for many years.
DEREK Who?
MAN Reg Cox. He died 30 years ago tomorrow, 20 February 1985. He was found the day before.
DEREK Cant say I ever heard of this as I lived in Leyton then.
MAN I am Tom Cox. Nephew of Reg.
DEREK Derek Branning. My family live round here, son and daughter, brothers, sister. They all went the straight way in life. I ended up a career criminal. Alice and Joey, my children have done well. They knew I was dodgy but not as bad as I was.
TOM I wanted to find out the truth. He was murdered allegedly. Reg Cox that is.
DEREK Any ideas who did it?
TOM Nah. I am gonna see if I can find out though if it chokes me.

Brilliant update Emmerdalefanatic, it was Nick Cotton who murdered Reg for his money and was found by Ally, Arthur and Den a few days later, Nick actually confessed to Den Watts whilst in prison he killed Reg and still 30 years on hasn't been brought to justice, he also got acquitted of Eddie Royles murder in 1993, look forward to more updates............

Denise is stacking papers in the paper rack and sees Kim coming across.

KIM Ello sis, hows things.
DENISE Same as ever Kimberley.
KIM Good innit, now that me and Ray are getting married innit.
DENISE yeah smashing. Are you sure you are making the right decision?
KIM Chillax sis. Its cool man.
Billy Mitchell calls to Kim.
BILLY Ere Kim can you mind the stall love, gotta so and see Beale for something.
KIM I was born to sell innit. Give us your moneybelt.
BILLY Thanks Kim you are a star.
Billy goes.
DENISE Maybe you should get with him instead.

INT, ARCHES GARAGE.

Phil is sat doing the accounts. Jai returns with some coffees.

JAY There you go Phil.
PHIL Cheers Jay.
JAY Whats up Phil.
PHIL Nothing to concern you.
JAY Is it Sharon again?
PHIL Jay just leave it, get on with your work, Max Branning wants his car fixed by the end of today.
JAY Has she upset you again?
Phil gets up in anger.
PHIL Jay just leave it hey. I wish people would not keep asking me questions. Take the rest of the day off.
JAY With pleasure grumpy. I thought you were my deputy father, esp after Ben and the Heather manslaughter business.
Jay walks off. Phil picks up a hammer and starts work on the engine but in anger he throws the hammer across the room.

EXT, WALFORD CEMETERY.

Ian Beale is stood at the grave of uncle and aunty Arthur and Pauline Fowler.

IAN Haven't been down for a while aunty Pauline and uncle Arthur. Been busy with the Masoods in our new business venture.

Tom Cox is stood nearby and recognises Ian. He walks up to him.

IAN Alright mate?
TOM Ian Beale isn't it?
IAN Who wants to know?
TOM Tom Cox. Nephew of old Reg who died in 1985, 30 years ago this week.
IAN Hang on aint you an old friend of my uncle Arthur Fowler?
TOM Yeah we were in the same class at school.
IAN Pauline is my dads sister.
TOM Oh yeah Pete Beale. Arthur and me were born a day apart. Arthur was a day older than me and both born in Bateman Street near the football ground. It was August 1943 and doodlebugs were going overhead. Arthur had 2 older brothers who were in the war fighting as young teenagers when Arthur was born.
IAN My mum grew up in the area of Walford near the old ammunitions factory. She had a rough childhood.
TOM Oh yeah Kaff ain't it?
IAN Kathy, wed my dad then wed an alcoholic psycho called Phil Mitchell. Mum lived in a slummy house on Calvert Street and had an alkie as a father and an overbearing mother. Often went to school in scruffy uniform. The house had tacky hand me downs and a dirty outside loo.
TOM Walford has changed a lot now. Full of Eastern Europeans and chavs.
IAN I know, go to Albert Square and see Fatboy Chubb, a local Del Boy.
