    Default Buying the movies

In protest at the hashjob Cidre's made of trying to make a new show, i'm going to buy the movie box. To me WOTE is where Dallas will end. I was waiting to see what would happen with continuity after the Facebook timeline, and quite frankly I say **** Cidre.

I recently bought the movie collection, but only for "Early Years" which I have fond memories of -- although I haven't seen it in probably 20 years. I'll probably rewatch "JR Returns" even though I didn't think it was very good; WOTE I have seen only once, mostly on fast forward, and even then it was boring.

I liked JR Returns because it answered the questions that were left up in the air from the series finale regarding JR. War of the Ewings didn't really do anything for the show storyline though. I liked the Early Years, but I don't think it needed to be as long as it was.

With all due respect, I feel you may be overreacting just a touch. I enjoy the new series much more than the movies. Just my opinion.....

I loved The Early Years. I taped it to VHS when it aired and watched it many times. JR returns is good, and it was very welcome as it gives answers to the open series finale cliffhanger and moved things forward nicely. I loved JR and Sue Ellen's relationship in that one, they were strong and close in a bizarre way, but Sue Ellen had moved on and was nobody's victim.
WOTE was pretty bad imo. I hated Bobby's love intrest, even worse since JRR had brought back his love intrest from the finale, so that was an interesting twist. JR playing at wanting Sue Ellen with Bobby was a massive WTF?
I do love the new series as well. Sure there's room for improvement, but still an entertaining show. Having these beloved characters back is so great.

TEY is fantastic! I wish we had seen two more minis- the last one ending with the arrival of baby Lucy. Great music, great spirited performances from the cast.

JR Returns- served its purpose, but Bobby's love interest was awful, where did they dig that one up? Too plot oriented...

WOTE- Nice to say Ray make an appearance, but it was dull and mostly awful and Cliff's absence is very noticeable.

While I liked "The Early Years" because it was a story of what happened in the past,I did not like "JR Returns" and "War of The Ewings". I found that those two movies really lacked the spark and dynamic effect of the tv series.

An Early Years 2 would've been great with the same cast continuing on that story, and yeah, ending not necesserily Lucy's birth, but Gary running off, Val fleeing with Lucy only for JR's thugs to take the baby and bring her back to Southfork. Lots of early JR shenanigans. Teen years of the Ewing and Barnes kids.

That would have been a great idea, but unfortunately by the time the first one was released in 1986,Dallas was about to suffer from the dream season, then the downward spiral. It would have been great to see a second one, though.

With Dallas back, maybe The Early Years 2 (with a different name of course) could be possible. Something to tide us over til the next season, maybe airing between seasons 2 and 3 in winter 2013.
It is a possibilty again. I'd be surprised if a young Ann didn't even get worked into it. As long as it was well written and acted and expanded on existing continuity without trashing existing history (like Cliff's improbably foster son), then I'd be thrilled.

The new series is better than WOTE- which is almost unwatchable

WOTE is very bad. I'm so glad that is no longer the end of the Ewing saga, they deserve better than that to be their swan song.

Watched "The Early Years" tonight, the first time in probably 20 years. I was afraid it wouldn't live up to my memories, but it's a very deft drama -- particularly for the era, when TV movies and miniseries tended to be rather sluggish (by modern standards, I suppose.) The ending was a bit too precious, but otherwise a damned fine movie and better than what "Dallas" was doing at that time.

I believe "The Early Years" was released during the dream season. Spring 1986.

Here in Sweden I can't buy the Dallas movies, and books and more accessories things.
I have to buy them on Amazon and it's taking a long time and it's quite expensive, but
    it's totally worth it it!
