Punk was always the most loyal Ewing friend,in my opinion. He was there to help through some of the hardest times they faced.

And he had worked with Jim Davis quite a few times in the years before Dallas. They were together on Gunsmoke several times that I can recall.

Wasn't Punk really the only friend of the Ewing family that we saw much of.

I would include Clayton Farlow in there too, but I guess either Punk Anderson or Harv Smithfield.

Clayton was a family member. He doesnt count.

Punk & Mavis, and Harve were really the only ones the Ewing's really trusted 100% outside the family.

The only time Punk disappoint me was when he agreed with Cliff and the rest of the cartel to confront JR at the Ewing BBQ. Granted Punk wasn't aware that Cliff was going to push it as far as he did, confronting JR like a lynch mob, and he yelled at Cliff afterward about it. The only time I thought Punk showed poor judgment even collaborating with Cliff (a known Ewing enemy) in the first place.
Yes, JR. The answer is yes. You were the love of my life!

Wasn't Punk the man who had Jock killed in the 'Who killed Jock Ewing'book? Okay, it didn't featured in the series, so it's not really 'real', but I think it would have been quite a twist if the production team ahd decided to incorperate it!

I'd say yes. Punk was a loyal friend to Jock and he continued to be a friend to Miss Ellie, J.R., Bobby and Ray after Jock died. Jock and Punk had a true friendship that money could not buy.

Nah - I'd nominate many of the corrupted members of the Law Enforcement complex (local, state and national).

Washburn was a good friend - but very small fry.

What about prior to his marriage into it?... unless it automatically undoes any good deed he might have done...or turns it into ulterior motives? So when he took care of Miss Ellie or allowed Sue Ellen to stay with Dusty, it doesn't count....or his friendships with Miss Ellie and Sue Ellen, they don't count either? So when he was a friend, that period of friendship no longer counts because it eventually became something more?

What about his reason for it?

...but JR was deliberately avoiding being contacted, which caused the confrontation.

Punk spoke to JR about his tactics 2 episodes earlier. Punk said he was there when Jock wrote the codicil and informed JR that he was operating in a way that his father hadn't intended. He also warned JR to play by the rules of the contest, otherwise he would blow the whistle on him. Punk's loyalty to Jock's memory?

Yes Punk was a loyal friend to Jock, and the family, and I would say Harve was too.

Without question. He was loyal to Jock but also to Miss Ellie and seemed to respect the Ewing sons.

when you think about it Punk & Mavis, and Harve Smithfield were really Jock and Ellie's only close personal freinds.
