Interesting that he also pictured it with an evening cape - not very Pamela Sue Martin!?!
Are you selling them at all darling?
I suspect Nolan Miller made the evening cape because she was meant to wear the dress in an episode - not just on the opening credits. But by the time there was a big party in season two her character was heavily pregnant so a maternity dress had to be created instead. Then in seasons three and four a conscious decision was made to "tone down" Fallon's wardrobe quite a lot so they probably didn't want her wearing that dress in any actual episode, thus no opportunity for her to wear the cape either.

Brooked I think that probably is the case - PSM was much better when she was toned down anyway I feel. She wasnt the OTT glamour that Nolan ran with with the older characters and Emma Samms protrayal of the character later in the series. But she suited the more pared down, beautifully cut silk blouses and trousers and simple dresses.

It was a beautiful handbeaded dress - who else has any dresses from the series in their collections?

Kevi, didnt you have a beaded dress and matching sketch to accompany it?

Yes Sable but its not from Dynasty, although it is a handbeaded, and I mean handbeaded dress made by Nolan for Whoopi Goldberg for her 'Soapdish' photocall or premiere. It is not at all what we expect of Whoopi, but its beaitifully made and hand sewn lining etc. And very very very heavy

But in seasons three and four she was far too toned down. You're right, they never did the OTT glamour with her and that felt appropriate enough, but Fallon should look stylish. In seasons 1 and 2 she looked very chic, understated glamour I guess but in seasons three and four her clothes were either plain or borderline hideous
And even at parties where you would assume she might like to be center of attention (such as her own engagement) she dons dresses Jane Wyman would reject for Angela Channing as too "old lady" ...but we already had this coversation on another thread. I felt her season one style fit best. Casual elegance by the day and a sort of 1930's heiress glamour for the evening (ie. her date with Cecil in episode two)

Dont you think that in seasons three and partially into four that it was a 'strange' era in fashion full stop? That we had the whole new romantic era, and on the back of that the princess Diana frilled collars and 'pretty, pretty' lace etc. That the show took on those looks that were happening in main stream fashion. And Fallon being the younger more fashion concious character went with the flow. Where as the older characters were really dressed more classically. And i know that looking back at the show - everyone gafaws at the fashions as being over the top and 'so 80's' but really the characters were dressed much like the old Hollywood stars of the 40's in their movies. Ladies wore hats gloves and jewels - even at home!! And although to everyday working class people this, in hindsight, looks ridiculous, as Adam on here has said - thats what people tuned in for - the escapism of the stories and the glamour of Nolans designs. Much as people watched Charlies Angels in the 70's to see what the girls were wearing.

I was underwhelmed with Fallon's fashion choices. The only beautiful clothes that come to mind are the famous red beaded gown discussed in this thread, and then a backless red velvet gown she wore in season 1 at Blake's party. Other than that... Dont think I was ever impressed! Her "formal" attire later always appeared to have tendrals, and attachments all over it. Kind of a homeless woman, pack rat, 1980's chic look?

very true Adam - and then by the time Emma Samms took over, she had been transformed into a younger version of Alexis - but again that, I think, was simply because the fashions of the mid eighties really were all out glamour. We had passed the new romantic and the Laura Ashley frilled blouses and ***** bows and now we were into shoulder pads. Which of course is now the known 'LOOK' of the decade and lead fashion as opposed to following.

For me Fallon was the only Carrington who´s clothes looked borring especially in S3 and S4 - she could have been a Blaisdel but not a rich Carrington bastard. Her clothes were down to earth too much. They showed they could dress the younger generation in a good style: Sammy Jo or Amanda looked fresh and young dressed and not as over the top as Alexis or Krystle, but Fallon looked so out of picture...

[QUOTE=kevibabes;Actually the burgandy nightdress and robe of Alexis there has actually been drawn twice - slightly different pose and hairstyle - infact I have a sneaking suspicion that it was actually designed with Elizabeth TAylor in mind[/QUOTE]

This one here - I have a sketch of Nolans designs for Elizabeth Taylors appearance on Hotel - and the face on the first sketch is closer to her than i is to Joan Collins. I think this was designed for Elizabeth and it was declined and re sketched for Alexis. When I find the sketch i will post and show you what I mean

Kevin, I love that red dress with the fur sketch for Elizabeth Taylor. Has anyone actually seen the dress in real life? Any pics of Elizabeth in it? I heard she wore it in the TV show "Hotel".
