Default Any Keeping Up Appearances fans here?

I am rewatching all the episodes on DVD and it truly is one of the best ever sitcoms. Perfect scripts and perfect lin eup of actors playing the ensemble cast to Patricia Routledge's sensation that is Hyacinth Bucket.

Its a shame they never made more episodes, apparently Patricia wanted out much to the sadness of the producer and other actors however I respect her decision.

I found it amusing, but I don't enjoy it as much when watching it in repeats. Perhaps it's that whole sense that someone ought to call her on her $#!+ at some point. Though you can sit through a "new" adventure and enjoy her antics as they happen, on second viewing I spend the episode thinking "THAT is the point where Elizabeth should have tossed her ass out" or "Richard should just slap her up side the hat..er, head".

Of course it is all farcical and mostly a star vehicle for Routledge, so I don't get genuinely bothered by Hyacinth's attitude. Still, it would have made an interesting "finale" episode where the town gangs up on her and finally stones her to death.

The show is very good and perhaps remains somewhat underrated.

I'm a fan. I've not watched any of the repeats for ages, because I've more than watched enough, but it is a very very funny series.

My fave episode is one of the Christmas Specials. You might know the one I mean, the one where Onslow won a competition for two aboard the QE2. Hycyanth and Richard just happen to be there as well, but as paid guests. (Neither told each other they were going, they didn't want to brag !) Hycyanth spots Onslow and Daisy and thinks they are stowaways.

I just love the ending in this hourly special where Hycyanth is dancing with Onslow. Its the first and only time where Onslow wears a nice suit.

I love Keeping Up Appearances, I watch it every Sunday night on my PBS station......the one where Hyacinth/Richard and Daisy/Onslow
are on the QE2, is my favorite too....

I prefer Mary Millar's Rose, as I think hers is more Rose then Shirley Stelfox's.

I wish they'd have shown more of Sheridan, and made him gay, instead of just inferring it,

I also wish they'd have done one episode, where Emmett plays a prank on Hyacinth, and Richard
and Liz are in on it!!!

I thought it was great in its original run, but watching the repeats later just didn't cut it with me, kinda like I had grown out of the show.

I think like other great comedies the BBC has overdone the repeats largely because there is no decent offering in the line of comedy. But it still ranks as one of the BBC's finest.

Keeping Up Appearances, Are You Being Served, and Waiting For God, are 3 of the most popular
    Britcoms here in the states....

They've shown some of the more recent ones, like Miranda, After You've Gone, The Old Guys, Goodnight Sweetheart,
and a few more that I can't think of right now.......the newer ones aren't bad, but don't seem to touch the quality of the earlier
    shows.

I love it, I like the first season best, I didn't like it as much when the brother moved in next door.

One of my favourite shows. Everyone in the family watches it. My nineteen year old swears two of his aunts, one my oldest sister and the other my sister-in-law are Hyacinth clones. He even referrred to my sister once, by accident as Aunt Hyacinth. Husband and I were hard pressed not to laugh. We ended up in hysterics later on on the ride back to the hotel.

Really? I thought Emmet was a genius addition.

Yes, I thought he added another dimension - Elizabeth was always a bag of nerves in Hyacinth's presence whilst Emmet just loathed her.

Geoffrey Hughes has died, apparently of cancer. I can't imagine KOA without 'our Onslow'.
