What does everyone think John Beck's (Mark) reaction was when he saw who turned up in the shower when Pam opened the door.

He has spoken about it- but I don't remember what he said exactly. When it happened, no one quite knew what it meant. I'm sure watching it, he probably didn't either. It wasn't an obvious association at the time to think of it as a dream. In fact, many people dismissed the idea as too outrageous and said Dallas would not do something like that.

I thought they would have told him, but remembered Victoria saying she called Patrick right after it aired with total shock, so I guess Beck didn't know.

Then your dad is smarter than most because most did not know what was going on. In fact, I remember a TV Guide article that set out to guess what the outcome of it might be and they refused to even consider the dream explanation because they said it was too ridiculous.

This is the first I am hearing of that. Considering he thought he would still be on the next season, I don't see how that could have been true. Plus, they killed Jamie in that episode and seemingly killed Sue Ellen so I don't see them doing another death so soon.

No way were they killing Sue Ellen, explosion or not. Jamie, yeah, she was most likely toast. They just delayed that for a dozen or so episodes.

John Beck couldn't have been too shocked to see Patrick Duffy's return -- aside from the circumstance of him appearing in the shower. It was public knowledge for maybe the last four episodes of that season that Patrick would be returning for the season finale. Probably at some point during that time, the producers may have hinted to Beck that it would probably not be a bad idea if he were to start scouting around for other roles.
