Myogiryu bounces back from serious injury.
Myogiryu: Overcoming grave injury and now new sanyaku
Friday, 29 June 2012
Holding the new banzuke in his hands he remains straight-faced. But with having beaten 4 ozeki last basho he became an impressive new sanyaku. "I'm happy. Going on showing the desire (for promotion) was the right thing.
"It's only 2 years that he was over 6 months kyujo with a left knee injury and had his back up against the wall. Passing through a period where he couldn't walk by himself, using the instantaneous force of his re-trained lower half as a weapon, he rose up the banzuke straight away.
His unyielding posture and a sumo without showing off lets the support around him naturally gain momentum. The koenkai in his home province Hyogo has about 50 new members in the last month, a total of 390. He had two new kesho-mawashi made, from the koenkai and his university Nittaidai.
In proportion to the hight of the expectations, the mark on the vigorous new komusubi by the top rankers will become more rigorous.Nevertheless the 25 year old is self-assured: "I don't have the intention to change my way of grappling. Not thinking of anything else I want to go push and push." Depending on the sharpness of his tachi-ai, his life line, the possibility that he will become the eye of the typhoon in Nagoya is big enough.
