And just to clarify this thread has nothing to do with Ted Shakelfords performance of Gary. Which was never gay, or camp or any of those things. He was a fine actor and played his role very well and never gave off a gay vibe or anything like that. I was talking about the subtext and little hints in the backstory.

Oh ITA with you, the subtext with Gary being gay is mostly all done before TS ever shows up. Gary on screen was very convincing as a hetero man in love with Val, sexually obsessed with Abby,etc.

I wanted the 2nd Gary (Ted shackelford) to stay in dallas a lot more, he was a great actor, epecially his drunk scenes in knots Landing......
