Hypothetical question about J.R. and Cliff

Say Cliff found out that someone was going to murder J.R. The murderer is no one Cliff cares about, and he somehow knows for a fact that no one will ever know that he knew about and could have prevented the murder. Would Cliff stop it?

And vice-versa, would J.R. intervene on Cliff's behalf?

I think neither would let the other die. They're not that bad, even about their hated rival, and at the end of the day, I think deep down they both enjoy the feud and would miss the other if they were gone.

For J.R. to intervene and save the life of a Barnes the murderer would have to be someone J.R. hated more than the Barnes clan. I doubt that person/character would've existed.

I think they both hate each other, but I think they would do something to prevent the other from getting murdered.

I actually think yes, both would intervene. Only if because they would miss fighting with each other too much! One scene that comes to mind is when JR faked chest pain in Cliff's office and Cliff was very concerned and poured him a drink etc...

I think a lot of it would be about when this would happen
Like just after Cliff accused JR of killing Kristin or around the investigation of the Asian coup then JR probably would let it happen
Due to Cliff's obsessive hatred of JR I think he would let it happen too

I don't think either would want the other murdered. Both wanted to crush each other, but not kill. Jock and Digger both said as much multiple times early on. Remember when Cliff got the job as assistant district attorney and tried to get Jock convicted for the murder of Hutch McKinney? Digger told Cliff he didn't want to see that happen and confessed. I think JR and Cliff followed that lead.

I think Cliff would have prevented JR's death.
But I don't think JR would have prevented Cliff's death. He may have a conscience about it later on, but by then it would be too late.
