    Default Dandy or Blackie

Both added much needed color to the later seasons but who was the most convincing wildcatter character in your opinion?

Blackie. Dandy drove me nuts. He reminded me of the character in that movie Hotline with Lynda Carter - scary.

Blackie for sure. Uncle Jesse had that wildcatter/moonshiner look to him. Dandy just limped around shaking his cane. Anyone remember him as the cook from It's a Living?

Can someone refresh my memory on this Blackie? I have no recollection of this character.

Portrayed by Denver Pyle. Definitely better than Dandy.

Ah, that would explain it. I only saw the final three seasons when they original aired, and even then my interest was fading. I have no memory of Denver Pyle being on "Dallas" -- although I see from IMDB that his appearances overlapped with Barbara Eden's. I can see Denver Pyle being good on the show. That's something that was seriously lacking in the final few years: character actors that felt appropriately "Texan". Most of the actors in the final years seemed to have wandered in from daytime soaps.

At least he could act unlike some of the other additions of that time - Granny Beaumont & co.

Dandy... because I don't have a clue who Blackie is I have to assume he's from season 13/14.
