    Default Bobby and any woman who isn't Pam

    Have people just always loathed and plotted the death of anyone who wasn't Pam who dared to get involved with Bobby? How did people react at the time the show was on air when he married April - and did they cheer when she got shot dead?

    The latest eruption on here with folk demanding she and Bobby get back together is both laughable and pitiful. The fact he's happily married to Ann doesn't seem to matter. They WANT PAM BACK AND THEY WANT HER BACK WITH BOBBY NOW! That and some people seem to have a serious problem remembering it's just a tv show...

    I loved Bobby & April.

    I liked him with some of his other ladies too. Bobby & Jenna were a wonderful couple.

    Bobby and Kay were ok too...

    I don't know what I'll think of Bobby & Ann. I will just have to wait and see.

    However my favorite match for Bobby was Pam. But that doesn't mean that I can't enjoy him paired with other women...

    Bobby without / replacement for Pam is like:

    - Edina without / replacement for Patsy;
    - Gomez without / replacement for Morticia;
    - Asterix without / replacement for Obelix;
    - Batman without / replacement for Robin;
    - Jon without / replacement for Poncho;
    - Bo without / replacement for Luke;
    - Fred without / replacement for Wilma;
    - Michael without / replacement for K.I.T.T.;
    - Laurel without / replacement for Hardy;
    - Al without / replacement for Peggy;
    - Sonny without / replacement for Rico;
    - Mork without / replacement for Mindy;
    - Kermit without / replacement for Miss Piggy;
    - Starsky without / replacement for Hutch;
    - Woody without / replacement for Buzz;

    Yes they automatically go on to my hate list. The only scene of April I liked was her being shot. These 2nd and 3rd wives ruined our beautiful story of Romeo and Juliet. They also had zero chemistry with Bobby. It's just a TV show right, so why can't they bring her back in some crazy way?

    I stil don't get why you care if we want our favorite character back?

    I agree David, it has always been totally ridiculous. Today this would be called shipping, where one cannot enjoy a show without a certain couple. I personally don't understand it although clearly it connects for many to do that.

    I guess you really have to be a bigger fan of JR and the family stuff than anything else to get that concept of the show, and for some people it is just about the couples or nothing. Why is it Cheers did so well with Rebecca after Diane? It really is about a lot of extenuating factors that affect public opinion in different groups. It always seemed like the press in the "glory years" of the show knew full well it was all about JR, and I think more of that audience would have stuck around if the dream thing hadn't turned them off, and there would be more people now just fine with the post-Pam show, it would just be a segment that was upset about it.

    Granted I am not sure people would have been happy with any way to bring Bobby back from the dead, it all might have seemed a stretch and been called jumping the shark no matter what-in retrospect, if they had just recast him for a season instead, that would probably have been the only way to prevent the dream from having to happen to bring Patrick back and rescue ratings.

    If this new show lives up to the opening promising numbers and stays on awhile, I think you will see a major group of new young net-savvy fans who love Ann and don't get the Pam craze when they go back and watch the old show now. It will maybe really even out the web-opinion landscape for Dallas fans and hopefully be a refreshing thing.

    Oh I have faith that their "savvy" eyes will be able to tell the difference between Bobby's passionate love match with Pam and his settling for companionship with smug dull Annie Oakley if "they go back and watch the old show now."

    Considering the basis of the whole show in the beginning was the love between Pam and Bobby, you can't really blame people. Not only that, they had a great chemistry together- even on the Reunion show. I don't think it's true that people just won't accept him with anyone else. Priscilla Presley was a big hit when she came on as Jenna Wade, at least in her first season. She was popular - that is why she lasted so long on the show, her big popularity in the beginning. It sunk to depths later but people certainly liked her when she came on. Duffy displayed little chemistry with any actress with him from that point on- people sort of liked April, but no one was jumping up and down about her, but she was accepted, I think. It's way too early to see if the new Ms Ewing has any staying power or even that much chemistry with him, we have not seen enough of them

    But Pam Ewing was a major character on this show, at least until she left. She formed a power foursome with Larry, Linda and Patrick that was the engine of the show for a long time. So of course many people would like her back, she is the only one out of the big four that isn't- and there was never any proof she actually died.

    No that is not how I feel. I loved Bobby and Pam, but they were apart longer than they were together. I liked Pam and Mark and the beginning of Bobby and Jenna. I like Bobby and Anne now. That is not why I want Victoria back. I don't want Bobby and Pam to reunite and be forever togther. No, I want her to come back to shake up the soap. To explain where she was, what happened to her and to apologise to her son and husband and brother. I want the whole of Dallas to have ment something. All the time I invested in a very long show to have been worth while. I don't want or need to see Pamela return and marry Bobby and get rid of Anne. No, no, no.

    And about April I didn't have a problem with Bobby being with her. I had a problem with how the writers turned April from a gold digger little whore into St April, patron saint of crappy writting. It was that she became boring. I thought that Bobby had more chemistry with Kay.

    When you seem to have a serious problem with people wanting their favourite fictional TV show character back....calling those people "laughable and pitiful"....you seem to be the one who needs reminding that it was "just a tv show".

    You've been roaming these boards, outraged that people have the audacity to want Pam back but funny thing is....Pam fans don't seem to have a problem with you having your own favourite character...so why do you have a problem with us? I'll tell you why....because you can't stand it that even 25 years after Victoria Principal left Dallas, a lot of people still love the character she portrayed. That says a lot about the actress, doesn't it?

    When I see threads about people wanting so-and-so back on Dallas....I don't create a thread to insult those people. In fact, I find it quite easy to ignore those threads/posts. Sometimes I'll give an opinion as to why I didn't like that character, etc....but I don't become upset. Fact is...love or hate Pam Ewing, she was/is a very memorable/popular character and that's why people like you get outraged. So, if TNT Dallas was smart, they'd capitalize on that love/hate aspect of the Pamela Ewing character. You know why? She's so popular, even people who hated the character, feel compelled to talk about her. That must be why the Dallas Fanzine youtube interview with Victoria Principal has 10 times more views than the ones for Larry, Patrick or Linda.

    You also mention Bobby's other wives, girlfriends, etc. Well, why aren't there threads flooding the forums with people wanting April back? Cause the majority of people don't even remember April. In 30 years, do you think millions of people will remember Ann Ewing? I highly doubt it.

    Soooooo, who gets the last laugh???

    No, not at all. I think we all got emotionally invested in the great characters on Dallas and that's a compliment to the actors and the writers...even all these years later, we still luv them. Yes, people should be able to draw the line between fact and fiction but I'm pretty confident that Bobby'sgirl knows the difference.

    I too believe there's a huge difference between the screen chemistry of PD/VP and PD/BS....partly due to the writing for the Ann character though. For a year, Brenda Strong and Patrick Duffy have been telling us that Ann is Bobby's perfect wife and they're equals/confidants, etc....but the very first show, Bobby's hiding his cancer from Ann...Ann's hiding the fact she knows about his cancer...Bobby didn't bother to consult Ann about selling Southfork and Ann apparently has a big secret from Bobby. So, what exactly do they confide in each other?

    I also can't help but watch PD's scenes with BS and feel as though he's holding back a bit because he knows the character of Bobby loves Ann but not anywhere near to the level that he loves/loved Pam....it's supposed to be a very different kind of love and apparently, PD is conveying that quite well....cause there's no magic chemistry whatsoever. It's the same level as his scenes with Margaret Michaels, SJW, etc.

    Patrick Duffy had great chemistry with Victoria P, they were totally hot and believable as a couple and you got the idea that as Bob and Pam they couldnt keep their hands off one another and couldnt wait to jump into bed.
    he had also great chemistrywith priscilla P, I really liked them together in the way I liked Pam and Mark ie acceptable substitute (until Bobby died and jenna became a pain!)
    Morgan F for her brief stint and would have loved to have seen him with Holly, there was a spark there and Lois Chiles was great in the role

    After that , it went downhill big time - the blandes and a blondes and zero rapport - the dull and boring parade of Tracey, April, Tammy with the Sindy doll hair, Kay and all the others who are instantly forgettable

    and didnt rate Bland Ann too much either last week! mega dull zzzzzzzzzzzzzz they keep talking about incredible chemistry - well that one past me by!!

    so there are some woman i liked Bobby with and others left me cold!

    I always thought that anyone after Pam just was wrong somehow but I got over it especially after I learned it had nothing to do with Pam and everything to do with the actress who played her
    If she repeatedly says no to coming back and doesnt want anything to do with the others who were in the show that seems pretty conclusive to me and I have moved on
    Would I rather not have a new Dallas if VP will not be in it or accept it and give the new show a chance
    I chose to give it a chance
    Any Dallas is better than NO Dallas

    The only way to make Bobby and Ann apart is putting her in bed with JR, which would just be a little gross at this time, but also effective, since Bobby doesn´t like the women touched by his brother, and he could search for and eventually marry Pam, for the third time. You see? Dreams are free.

    I think it was just hard to see Bobby with any other woman because Bobby and Pam were pushed as the couple of Dallas from the beginning. When they broke up they knew that the fans were going to be rooting for them to get back together. During the Return to Southfork when Patrick and Victoria were talking Patrick said something about how that was the perfect marriage and they needed to get back together. So seeing him with anyone else it just didn't seem right.

    Well you have to remember that April was one of JR's women.

    While not a fan of Pam, I have to admit that I wasn't 'feeling it' between Bobby and Ann, but maybe it will just take time. I enjoyed April and Jenna the most out of his other ladies.

    Personally, I found Pam to be sort of an obnoxious person. I was glad when she was gone! Nothing was ever right for her...it started in the very first episode...she wanted Bobby to get into the corporate world with his father and brother, then when he did...she didn't care for it! Then she had to go back to work and wasn't satisfied, then she had to have a baby, then she got what she wanted and left Bobby!! She seems just to self righteous and spoiled as if she couldn't do anything wrong! No..I never cared for her, not in the least bit...maybe she did love Bobby but she sure had a weird way of showing it! She always wanted something and when she got it she was never satisfied...that's my opinion!! I loved April...I can't remember the name...but the young lady that played the daughter of April's killer...I even liked her better than Pam!!!

    I don't hate any of the other women, I've just always felt Pam and Bobby were the more natural fit.

    But I am really loving Bobby and Ann. If we can't have Victoria, Brenda doesn't seem like such a bad second wife for Bobby
