Do You Think They'll Use the "Previously on Dallas" Recaps?
I don't normally watch any of the other TNT dramas, so I'm not sure what their style is. I was just curious if they'd use the "previously on Dallas" recaps before each episode to bring viewers up to speed, or if they'll just jump into each episode. Since opening credits have gotten shorter or faded away, I thought that might be viewed as disposable, too.

I think they'll still use them. A lot of serialized shows still utilize it, and they will often show short clips from episodes way back if they think it'll pertain to what they're about to show in the new episode. ABC's drama LOST really did that a lot. However even a lot of serialized shows nowadays will skip a "previously on" for a particular episode if they don't think there is anything from an older episode to get you up to speed on.
I'm guessing a lot of TNT's other shows may be episodic, and not use a "previously on", but with something like Dallas, it's fairly crucial.

I think they do use the 'Previously On Dallas' segmants.
Not sure about 'Next Time On Dallas'
That will kinder ruin the cliffhanger of the episode.

I think they may. They did this on shows as recent as Desperate Housewives which just ended a month ago. I hope they do

Did they use to do have those in the original "Dallas" when it ran on CBS ? I just remember seeing previews from the episode ahead, just like they used to do on Falcon Crest (where at one point, in season 4 perhaps, I think they did add the "previously" segments). I guess that was a Lorimar thing to do. Dynasty never did previews, only the 'previously' segments and they of course called them "Last week... on Dynasty".

yeah they used to do previously on Dallas at the beginning and next time on Dallas at the end. It wouldn't surprise me if they do the previously. Instead of saying next time on Dallas, they'll probably just show a 20 second like commercial while they're rolling the closing credits

I hope they do.. and if I recall correctly, certainly in later years, it was actually Larry Hagman's voice which said : 'Last on Dallas...'

If the intro to the show that has been posted is correct then the opening credits have not faded away and are in my HO very close to the orig music and all
and given the type of show it is there would have to be some type of recap at the beginning and next week teaser
I have been very happy with what I have seen so far and it doesnt look campy contrived or 90210ish
2 days and counting

They still do recaps on "90210".

For the mini-series and thru season 9 (1986-87), they used a small clip of what was coming up that night, which was the same clip as "next on dallas", from the previous week.
They went to "last on dallas" beginning in the fall of 1987.

I don't think Larry ever did "last on Dallas", but he did do "Next, on Dallas" for many seasons.

When Dallas originally aired, they didn't always due "Last on Dallas." At the end of each show, it was "Next on Dallas." At the beginning of each show, it would simply start with the preview of that night's episode, sans any introduction, which I liked. It was in the latter years that they started doing the "Last on Dallas" which was awkward and kind of corny. However, I think if they do it right, like on the Sopranos or even Boston Legal, it could work well.

When the show was originally in production, it wasn't Larry Hagman. It was someone else not on the show. When the show went into syndication, that's when laryy started with the introductions.

Yes, I remember when they changed it. I liked it better before the change.

Same here, although Dynasty had "last on Dynasty", with the same music playing in the background each week, they did it quite well.
