The parties.......

There were some great Falcon Crest parties e.g. Maggie & Chase's in season 1, Jacqueline revealed as Richard's mother in season 2, Michael Ranson's event in season 3, Fransesca held one in season 4, then those engagement parties in 5 and 6 and of course Maggie and Richard's hen / stag celebrations. Which one of them was the most memorable?

Melissa is considering separating from Lance. Angela’s rival leaves the Victorian mansion and returns to the Agretti mansion. Falcon Crest 1984:

Angela says sarcastically: “It won’t be the same without you.”
Melissa: “Oh, I be available for family gatherings: funerals, shootings, divorces and of course the reading of wills!”

I liked the one Angela throws in Season 5 when she announces her engagement to Stavros. Pretending to be nice and bring the family together again, she then shocks the guests by revealing that Cole is the father of Robin's (Melissa's cousin's) baby.
I love the glint in her eye as she swings the microphone round in her hand. Even Stravros gives her a filthy look as if to say, 'you damn bitch'!

Each of the parties as with any party had their own spectacular event. If I had to choose a particular one then Dr. Ranson’s might just nudge it. There was a lot going on there.


Emma appeared at Chase and Maggie’s party. Angela knows that she has gone from her mansion and then the matriarch appears from upstairs. Chao-Li is facing the front door, before he gets another order, (a scene from season 1, 1981 – ‘82):

Angela: “Chao-Li have you seen Emma?”

Chao-Li: “I have not seen her, in some time Mrs. Channing.”

Angela: “Oh! She must have wandered off again. See if you can find her please.”

Chao-Li: “Yes mam!”

If there ever was something that "Falcon Crest" knew how to do better and funnier than the other pt supersoaps was just that, the parties. The writers didn´t really need a reason to put one in this or that episode, because they could be filmed indoors most times. All they needed were the always competent work of the great actors like Wyman, Selby, Foxworth, Ana-Alicia or Sullivan to say their lines and use their powerful looks! Even la Turner was in some of them and was great: if I had to choose one, it would probably the one when at the end, Angela says to her: "You witch!" (or did she say "bitch"?), and of course the post-nuptial of Season 2 cliffhanger is fantabulous: so much happened in so few minutes, and a whole season concluded with such a bang-bang!!
