I haven't watched the show in the last couple of years, but I always looked on Val as one of my favourite characters.

I still think Eric did play a part in the death of Elizabeth other than saying if he hadn't have angered her she would not have run out into the path of disaster and that she would not have died by debris. He did say at the time he did want to kill her for exposing him about the cheque fraud and stolen bracelet but the plane beat him to it. I reckon she got injured by debris and Eric said he went back and saw she had died from the impact but I have a theory that she was still alive and he left her for dead or something. She got killed by debris according to the coroners inquest but he may have left her to die.

This is Eric Pollard we are talking about here not Elliott Ness. Pollard has lied and cheated and swindled his way through his time in the show and we know how good a liar he is so I think he saw her injured and burned by debris but was still alive so he took his chance and then left her to die so her secret about the Roman bracelet and cheque fraud burned and died with her as well. Before the story resurfaced in 2010-2011 he had said he had done things that have given him sleepless nights so leaving her to die after she was injured by plane wreckage was one of them.

When Eric eventually leaves this may one day come out once and for all, such as a deathbed confession.
