A Message from Joan and Linda...

Guys,

I just got off the phone with Joan Van Ark within the last hour as a result of the interview which we advertised on this forum a few weeks back. First up, can I say what an absolutely amazing time I had and what a warm and beautiful person Joan really is. I managed to get just about all the questions asked that you all submitted including Joan's thoughts on the new Dallas and her memories of working with Larry, Linda, Patrick and Charlene (whom she spoke about lots). Charlene's daughter even gets a brief mention as does Barbara Bel Geddes and 'Lenny' Katzman. She even has a fun Victoria Principal story to tell...

Anyhow, I thought I'd copy you all into an email from Linda Gray which I received from Joan containing a message from Linda, Patrick & Larry who were all made aware of my chat with Joan and wanted to say to this to you all:

I am in a car in New York with Patrick and Larry! We just finished working our asses off here and we're going to dinner.

I read them your lovely email and here's what they said to tell all the Dallas fans in England:

"The entire cast of Dallas will be coming to London mid August to celebrate the launch of the new series!" We're all so excited!

Have a great interview tonight with Bob.

We send you love and a big hug.

So there you have it! Now I'm knot so sure how much of this you all know about. I'm guessing you probably all know about this but for the benefit of those who don't, the "three musketeers of Dallas" (as Joan refers to them) are coming over to meet us in mid August. I know I for one that I will be flying down to London or wherever to see them

I'll try and get the transcript typed up and passed over to Pamela or one of the admins as soon as possible.

The entire DALLAS cast in Britain - that sounds exciting!
Has an air date for the new series premiere on Channel 5 already been announced? (I'm assuming that it will be then that the cast are coming to, presumably, London..?)

Having met Larry, Linda, Patrick and Charlene a couple of years ago, I can tell you what a thrill it was. What was more exciting is that the experience matched the anticipation as all were warm, gracious and kind. You are going to make a memory of a lifetime. Meeting them is a must for any "Forkie."

I think I just about got every question asked that was submitted though because we were pushed for time and there were so many Dallas questions all asking the same thing, I merged most of the Dallas material together to save a little time as we only had an hour to chat.

Until I can get the transcript completed, I'm going to give you all another little preview though to make up for the delay...

And I can say that Dallas/Knots fans shouldn't entirely be dismissive of the idea that some Knots Landing cast members may be turning up in the new Dallas. Joan gave me the name of a 'Californian' Ewing who has been asked back to do the new series...

A Californian Ewing? Let's see....that means it's either Gary, Val, Bobby, Betsey, Abby or (long shot) Molly. It's probably Gary or Val, but sure would love to see J.R. pull Abby back into the mix.

Wonder if this means they are going to ignor the fact that Bobby died on Knots similar to the way they are ignoring the two Dallas TV movies. I hate when they do that and destroy continuity!

...let me just add, regarding Joan Van Ark, that I was blessed enough to co-author a book about TV's MASH, a couple years ago. I sent out 50 plus letters to MASH alumni (guest stars too), and Joan (guest star) was the very first to reply, with great warmth and a desire to answer any questions I had. Very nice lady, indeed.
